Prepare to take it in the shorts like the rest of us did. Unless you can get someone to co-sign for you, expect to pay double digit interest rates.

Shoot, I've been at Wells Fargo for 18 years, gotten several loans and always paid them off early. I own a house, and with my wife's income we make a good deal of money. They freakin' denied me a student loan. Good luck.

get a prepaid credit card, then a low limit credit card, run the low limit credit card up to max (like $500) pay the minimum for a month or 2, then pay it off, raise the limit, do this a few times and you'll build your credit.

I didn't know what mine was until I got my truck last year, never had a loan, just 1 credit card with a low limit that I started out from $200 and was up to $7500 at the time. Credit score was 740, once I pay my truck off next year hopefully it will be even better [dance]

If you have no credit then you would qualify for a first time buyer program through safe/ golden one etc. But if you have anything bad on your credit then your not a first time buyer, so I would get a co-signer. Your last choice is to buy a basic cheap car put good down and do a Bhph ( it sucks high interest only2-3 year loan so high payments).

Your best bet would be is to buy a cheap car put good down payment and try to get financed, if the dealer can't finance you then don't buy unless you need a car then do a Bhph

Dude chris... I'd be more concerned about your credit/money situation rather than your car being slow. I'm just saying...

I was in the same situation as you not to long ago.. this is what happened.. went to a dealership to go look at a 98' cobra with a kenne bell on it.. loved the car, set my heart on it. next day went to check out an 01' bullit. did all the paperwork. dealer sold the car under my nose. I took that as a sign and didn't get eithier car. just kept buildg the 95 and been happy ever since.. just build your car.

but I do want an 03' cobra [Big Grin]

Stop putting money into it, put the money in the bank.

Be patient man. Stack your money and get a good down payment saved up. Also start building your credit in a smart way that's going to make you financially stable in the future. Some low balance credit cards to run up then pay off will get you started in the right direction. Jumping into a hefty payment is a big commitment also. 200-400 a month, every month, for years is a long time and a lot of money you HAVE to pay. And if you don't have a lot of credit I'm also guessing you don't have a long driving record which means higher insurance and fuel costs for a fast car. Sit down and do the math to figure out what you can afford and go from there.

Taking over payments on a car is also contingent upon you being approved by a bank to take over those loan payments. Its based on your credit, not that of the seller.

Posted by 50 Deep (Member # 6216) on :

FYI if you really want to get a fast car you should look into promotional opportunities in your workplace or field that will pay you more money. That's the real way to get what you want and advance yourself.

"Everytime they make a whip you like your chips ain't right. By the time you can afford it, the car ain't important." - Nas

+100000000

If you cant afford it with cash don't get it. I learned the hard way, you've been warned. Join a Credit Union, they will help you establish a credit history.

good luck

If you only make $1200 a month then I would pay off the car, start saving for a new one, and pay cash for it. Car payments are major financial traps that you want to avoid at all costs.

If you have no credit and want to build credit then get a low limit credit card, use it to pay for groceries and gas, then pay it off EVERY MONTH.

Food for thought [patriot]

1200 a month, thats bullshit. you can get more money and an education if you just go to college and get student loans. i've got friends that get a big ass check every couple months and it pays for school, food, rent everything. get an education first and dont become someone's slave for a POS car payment.

go to school first and worry about the toys later when you can afford it. its nice and all to be making enough money right out of hs to pay for your toys but soon than later ull realize that all that was a waste of time and ull be left wondering why u wasted so much time for a stupid car.
priorities priorites...pay your dues now and ull be comfortable later making more than 7k a month if u choose the right profession.

youngsters and credit. (shakes head) but i guess we were all there, been there and done that. when you're young you think you know it all and never heed the advice of your elders. some gotta learn the hard way.

my rule of thumb for the last two years has been, if i cant put 80% down i dont buy it. its a pain paying huge payments and always try to pay more than the minimum payment especially at the beginning thats when the loan charges the most money. the less you get financed, the lower the payments, interest, stress, etc. and when you pay a large portion up front you arent negative on your loan so if you decide you want to sell or trade in after a year or so your car most likely will be worth more than what you still owe.

Sucking the dicks of the banks and car dealers by fucking around with payments is stupid.

It sounds to me like author of this thread is broke, so if that is indeed the case, then why the fuck are worried about getting a fuckin car when your income is shit?

If you are a dip shit with no skills then you need to do something about that right now so you can get a good paying job. The fancy cars will come later.

Don't act like a stupid mother fucker by pissing away all of your burger joint pay into your fuckin car.

my .02

Ditto on that. When I was 18 all I was worried about was paying for my tuition at UCSC and hoping I'd have enough money for food, gas, and insurance while going to school and work full time. I am glad I waited on getting any expensive toys back then. Most of the guys/gals that did indulge still don't have their "dream" cars and would all probably would agree that they should have waited first, did the hard work, and then reap the benefits later.

If you really think about it...you should not have to kill yourself over getting that terminator. It is just a car and then something else better comes out and then your sort of screwed..plus cutting it that close in finances is a sure recipe for getting your credit jacked up.

Okay..off my soapbox.

Why not have one of Your sibling's co-sign with You and You all split the payment's 3 way's? They seem to be older and farther along with their lives & career's so why take all the weight and risk on Your shoulder's? Pop's would probably be just as happy with a shiny GT. Sound's like You have a good heart but I will guarantee Your pop'sI would'nt want You to risk financial ruin or even any sort of hardship for a car, I know I would'nt want My children to [patriot] . How about getting a nice fox or new edge that is in decent shape and You guy's work on making it into a cobra or saleen clone? Do what You feel neccesary Bro but this shit could hold You back for year's to come and cars come and go.

focus on school and only school and you will thank yourself later. Take school as far as you can. People are willing to pay you for what you know. And the more you know, the more they pay you.
