I'm thinking bout getting my class A drivers license. wanted to know how people like it? How the job market is,how's the pay? Is it worth it?

man i got mine about 4 years ago and never used it. state paid for me to get it through the teamsters truck driving school. most jobs i looked into for starting drivers sucked. alot of hack jobs out there. but there is deferentially work if you got it. i didnt care if i got fired as a mechanic because i knew i could find a job quick with an A license.

i got lucky and got hired as a city worker and me having that A license paid off big time. i owe my job to it. i would recommend getting it.

Class A is a BIG plus in the moving industry. You could get a freight job or get a job working with a nationally known van lines like North American, Allied, National or any other van lines.

There are pros and cons IMO
1. If you get a ticket, personal or com.... No traffic school
2. Don't drink and drive...... Not one beer, you bac goes down to .04 ( I believe that's the exact # )
3. Get use to physicals because you need a medical card.
( every 2 years )

But if you are a responsible person, It's a great job to have. Trucks keep America going. [patriot]

Good to hear your CL was finally useful. Other Class A jobs are LTL (local to local) Freight. Places like Fed Ex Freight, USF Reddaway, ConWay Express, UPS Freight, and a bunch of others. Local Freight company's are usually hiring and pay decent.

Had my class A license for 6 years now and since then added all my endorsements and started training all the rest of my coworkers how to drive class A trucks too..it's probably the best thing I've ever obtained because of all the opportunities out there...
