So right now I have a pretty nice 01' Cobra vert, built motor with a nice D1 kit waiting to be installed, basically if I just get off my ass I could have a 600rw car....
My dilema....
I think I might be "growing up" :/ I think I might be over it.... It really sucks, I just have no motivation or time for this car and this wrenching hobby anymore.... I'm over dropping lots of money on a mustang.
My answer....
2005 Cadillac CTS-V with 60k miles for about $19k.... Murdered out, intake, exhaust and tastfully lowered. A nice, roomy, plush 4 door sedan that straight gets it! Lol
will I regret it? Am I gonna hate not being able to drop the top on a nice day? What do you think?

Buy a no-frills commuter. Like a cheap-azz Honda, something that goes point A to B. Don't touch/work on/buy parts for the Cobra for 3-4 months.
This will do one of two things:
A. You'll realize how much you miss the car, in turn giving you the drive to finish it...or...
B. Show you that you're not cut out for this hobby, are better off driving your Honda, and happy that you can put your car on CL and walk away from it all.
Has nothing to do with growing up.

Keep your car. I owned a caddy one time, If it breaks your gonna be in for some serious $$$$.

I know the feeling. Personally I would say go for it. Those Cadi's are nice. In the public eye it will put you in a different bracket. Always good to have a "grown folks" ride on hand. Can you swing the Cadi but keep the Cobra in its current state?

I have my little Saturn that gets me around when the cobras down n out, and I honestly don't mind it other than it looks like shit and it's slow, that's where the CTS comes in lol...
When I was younger, working on the car and putting new mods on cars was fun! Now it's seems like more of a hassle and a waste of money....the caddy is a old folks ride, but it's classy and still has that bite to it. Ugh.... Fml lol

question is do u have to sell the cobra to purchase the caddy?
Posted by RED@7kVERT *8850GT* (Member # 5909) on

Well ya, or I wouldn't have a dilema. Lol in a perfect world ide sell the Saturn, keep the blown cobra, and have a the V as the daily.... Ide need about $10 more an hour to swing that, comfortably.

it dosent intimadate me in the respect, as it has the LS6 motor. If it was a northstar ohc motor, then ide think twice. From what I read these cars are VERY stout, the one drawback being wheelhop from the IRS, which I deal with now anyways...

How would YOU be happy with only exhaust and ride height... first time somebody spanks you on 80 you would be like "screw that I'm putting a cam and heads on it!"
It would be the same situation only you would be deeper in debt and mistakeable by noobs for grandmas car. Keep the cobra and drive it more often...

is this really a question? get the v you won't regret it. it would only take a few bolt ons and a small shot of spray and you could make the V way faster than the cobra.

my payments would stay about the same. Not to mention this car, I would assume, will hold it's value a little better. There's always someone faster... I'm over chasing that as well, your cars faster, good for you?? Lol. Plus you can't hop in a mustang with 3 of ur boys and throw all ur shit in the trunk and hit tahoe for the weekend lol!!
At best the car would get high flow cats, the catback, the intake, and a slight chance of a custom smog legal super friendly cam designed for a heavier car, and tuned of course. I think I'll see what the numbers look like and go from there...

If I was your friend and you chose a Cobra over this, I would kick you in the nuts and denounce you as my friend.

But they will all wanna take your car when its time to go cruisin or to tahoe

if you can't keep both, the caddy is a better car.
I love having my harley for trips to pack 4 people in, and it's still fast enough to spank most cars on the road, hah.
if I had to only own 1 car, I'd sell them all and keep the harley.

Hey its Mario with the blacked out Trailblazer SS... I would say get the CTS-V and dont look back... My Buddy in brentwood has one and the thing is Badass i would give my left arm for it.... i was in your same positionat one point, with my 2003 Mach 1... i was tired of trying to buy all these parts to make the Mustang look fast and go fast and i felt like I was getting to old for it. Dont get me wrong i wish i had a mustang right now but just to cruize with my friends....I sold the Mach 1 to get the Trailblazer SS and i couldnt be any happier and its pretty fast!!!

Check my sig and you'll see my opinion on the mean 4 door sedan vs. Cobra thing. I've had a ton of Mustangs, many of them very clean and very fast. I've never had more compliments on any car than I get with the GXP. I say get the V.
FYI, check out G Force 1320. They make a mean set of axles that are the cure for the wheelhop issues on the V. They run a staggered setup (larger passenger side) just like the new CTS-V's and Vettes. I'm ordering a set for the GXP.

i hope you know your car isnt going to bring 19k. so i hope you have some money to throw around. ther eis a market for your car with the blower but you have to find the buyer {like ebay or a nation wide stang site} ide suggest selling the saturn and getting a gtp or a regal gs. there supercharged and with like 300-1k you can mod it have a good 300whp 350 or more tq to the wheels its leather, heated seats, sun roof, on star, steering wheel audio controlls, gtps have heads up display. they honestly dont look bad and are fast. my regal gs was a 01 with chip, off road down pipe, plugs and thermo stat {lower temp} intake and a smaller pulley it ran a constant 13.7 sometimes 13.3s with good tires. you can get a whole bunchs of mods for them. you can also pick up lexus gs400 v8 pretty cheap.
anyways good luck with what ever you do. ide suggest installing the blower to get your money and thrill. you will have to tune it tho. or you can sell the blower get a few grand in the pocket buy something nice.
good luck with everything. ide hold off on a cts. research them and the motors and tranny. ive learned figureing out the weak spots and the aftermarket world means alot b4 you buy a car. hope this was some kind of insight.

dont get me wrong i really like the cts v and the trailblazer ss and the srt8 jeeps. i think luxury sedans are bad ass. ide just make sure its what you want and look more into it. dont just jump into it cause maybe a week or month down the road you might regret it. yea maybe the car will sell but there is always another one.
gxp are bad ass too. ide look around more at luxury sedans and watch videos and find fourms and read read read.
