Flipping is possible, but nothing's a sure thing. Sometimes's you'll win, sometimes you'll lose.

No doubt. I'm not trying to do anything extravagant. Just buy a 1500$ non running car and get it running sell for $3000 type thing.

I dont know about Mustangs because you'll probably end up putting too much money into it before you sell it.

Motorcycles on the other hand, YES! I did this on and off for about 3 years. I got to have fun on the bikes, then dump them for profit [Big Grin] I basically made my way up from a $600 bike and ended up with an $8000 bike, which in turn was sold to fund my saleen, the 95 cobra, and finally my current 95 GTS [Wink]

Back in the late 80's and early 90's when VW bugs were pretty popular, my dad used to flip them. He'd buy a straight non-runner for $500 and sell it for $1500. Did that quite often. You gotta be careful though cause now the DMV requires you to have a sales license if you sell more than 6 or 8 vehicles in a year.

We should have a California Fords store.

Dustin will take the pics, Jae Jae tests the car and N8 will make the websites. If anyone pisses us off we got FR5.0 as bodyguard. [Big Grin]

I did it for years and made really good cash, but I dont think the Market for Mustangs is there anymore, it ended about 2 years ago in my opinion. People just dont have the cash to have a Mustang these days, cost too much to keep, gas savers are the Market now.

the market for mustangs might suck because of the economy, but it has came and went at least 3 times for me, this being the forth. and to make money takes a good pick of the car u ori purchase, and a whole stock pile of parts in your inventory, to keep cost down. but yes there always money if u dont rush

whats the max limit w/o a license?

Be sure to estimate just how much time you'll be putting into it. You could make $1000 on one sale, but if you put a week or two of work into it, you may be only making $6 an hour.

Technically, 1. I flipped cars for a living for about 2 years and am well aware of the MYTH that DMV allows you to sell 4-6-8 or however many cars per year. Without a dealer license the limit is 1. Any more than that and they can flag your DL and cars registered in your name. Not saying they do, but they can.
That said, there are ways around this. If you buy a car and do not transfer title (car owner signs front of pink but you do not fill out the back) then your name isn't listed in the transaction. Simply have the person that buys the car from you fill out the title transfer. While the DMV frowns on this practice (because they miss out on 1 part of the transfer tax) it happens all the time every day.
As a gearhead I was always looking out for foxes, LT-1s and muscle cars to flip. But I always wound up sitting on them for weeks at a time and making little money. As others have mentioned here, I also always made my best profit and quickest sales on little four cylinder commuters and mini vans.
Hope this helps.
