Im doing the Auto Tech program at the College Of Alameda right now. Way cheaper but you do have to have a basic set of tools but the bigger tools the school lends out.

After going to sequoia years ago and working in dealerships ever since. I can tell you this.
The 30 large for a regular automotive program is ridiculous. You can got to a community college for that and ask all the questions you want. It all depends on what kind of drive you have. The hipo and fab classes are good. But on the job training is where it's at because every car is different. Untill you learn a product line and how it works you won't know too much.

Now if you wanna do independent work go for it. But most independent guys know a little about a lot of cars.

Oh and on the other side get your ase's they mean alot in dealerships.

I took a tour of the school bout a year ago. It is expensive but they hav a lot of programs that help u out. I would recommend takin the ford fact program that my friend took. Plus wen u graduate u get a phat tool box

I've had good friends go there. they said it wasnt worth it, job placement spotty at best. Also they told me, its for people with zero auto expiriance which they found frustrating. Community college is the way, or even working at a local garage part time is hw i got my break. Sometimes thyer willin to show you the ropes, and its hands on. Ask around. good luck, my 2c
