So I think it's time to finally start my ar15 build. I ran a across a ameetec lower receiver for about $80 plus ffl fees..but it's in the remm. 6.8 cartridge which I admit I don't know much about. I have read up on it and it seems it's a great round. Does anybody know or have experience with the 6.8 ..also things like ammo availibilty and price

Most AR lowers are multi cal. if it works on 6.8, it will work with .556/.223. All it would need is a different upper for any given caliber.

thats a really hard round to come by, way better to go with a 556 upper or a 762... just my opinion, plus you can to cheaperthandirt and get a 1000 rnds cheap.

+1 and its going to be alot easier to find mags for the .223 compared to the newer 6.8spc.

6.8 unless you reload you might as well throw money the drain big time when you shoot it compared to .223/5.56.

That's why that upper was so cheap.

Yea I think I'm going to look more at the 5.56 or even the 7.62 which sounds really nice in an ar platform [Big Grin] but thanks for all the input [patriot] ...I also turn 21 next week and I'm getting really tempted with a handgun
