I'm a 12 year fox veteran, and finally this year I picked up my first DOHC Cobra to try something different.

Along with the MM suspension, and 4.30 gears, this car has been an absolute blast on the street.

7K RPM redline, inspiring exhaust note, Cobra brakes, and refinement that can't be touched by any fox...

Don't get me wrong, I love foxes, but won't be daily driving one anytime soon.

Getting into this thing and getting on it after work puts a smile on my face daily.

Got the following parts ready to go on

- 18x9/18x10 Saleens
- Exhaust
- Tokico Blues
- New Headlights to clean it up

Who else here has a 96-98 Cobra?

I always like those Cobras, but you always see them with thrown rods and what not, makes them seem kinda iffy to me. 4.6's in general just don't seem near as reliable to beat on IMO
But they sound amazing, and are very good looking cars.

Thanks to the help of Blind, JohnB, and others on the forum, including the forum itself, I converted my 97 GT over to a 4v with a 98 Cobra engine, which spun a bearing, but that was mostly operator error but for the time it ran, it was fun as hell. Im working double time to get the new engine done so I can get that car back on the road and give me more smiles. I love the 96-98 Cobra's, since i now learned to appreciate cars, before i was only hooked ont he 03/04 Style, and i still am. Im glad to see others with the 96-98 Cobras'.
These cars drive and sound awsome. If you don't have one, go get one, or a Fobra like some of us.

I love my Mystic. Its got a good bit of mods and has been super fun and reliable. Passes smog, has ac and runs 12.0 @ 119 all day.

Its got a php ported stock intake, home made cold air intake, 90mm meter, accufab tb, 4.56 gears, a t-56, full magnaflow exhaust with cats, and a zex 125 shot and 42 lbs injectors. I have a vortech s trim to go on collecting dust with an aftercooler but I am waiting for some cash flow to get it going. It also has a superchips flip chip and a few custom tunes. Bone stock longblock with 96k on it. Theres lots more to list but those are the horsepower goodies.

They are cheaper now than they have ever been. I would venture to say that these prices will not be dropping from where they are now, at least not for respectable examples...

These 96-98 Cobras are selling for $4-9K... I don't see the prices dropping any further as this is rock bottom. You want cheaper, and you have to go GT IMHO
