Going to purchase one of these soon (My budget is around $700) any recommendations? There sooooo many different ones to choose from and so many reviews on each one. I'd rather have some feed-back from someone who has used a specific camera for more than 5 min. Thanks for the help guys.

I'm assuming you are looking at either a Canon or Nikon. Honestly, it's best to just go out and test which one feels best in your hands and which one you are most comfortable using. As far as specs go not one will be any better than the other at this price range.

At the 700 new range I have taken the Canon T1i out for a spin with the battery grip. It felt balanced but it would feel a bit too small without the grip. The digi4 processor was awesome even in high iso will little noise. The hdmi and hd video is always cool too. I can go on and on about it but I would just be repeating what the reviews you have read.

But don't forget that the most important part of photography are the lenses. Focus your attention on what focal range you will be shooting and what type of lenses you will need to shoot whatever you are trying to capture.

Also, like cars you will need the supporting cast like memory cards, bag, external flash, filters, and tripod.

There is also a used market for photography and it would be an excellent way to stretch your budget. For instance you could get a older camera body for around 350 dollars and spend the rest on decent glass (lens) and an external flash. You will be a lot better of than buying a camera with a kit lens from Best Buy.

I'm getting ready to buy a DSLR and have done quite a bit of research. For this price range, it seems there is overall agreement the Canon T1i and Nikon D5000 offer best bang for the buck. They can both shoot HD video too.

Costco.com has the T1i for $730 right now.
