I just had to break up a big ass fight between some youngstas down the street from my house. Lil mf's were wilding out and whoopin on one kid at the end. Hella people just standing and watching. I couldnt sit there as an adult and let them whoop this kid like that.

But on the other side, this kid had some serious heart. His friends ran and he knew it, but he stayed and tried his best to fight like 8 kids. And was doing good for a sec. but I think I may have saved his life. I was hoping one of them didnt have a gun or some other adult be with these kids and end up thumpin. But it is hella hard to break up 15 or so kids.. I am hella tired.

15-16 year olds. Funny enough it initially was over some myspace IM shit talking. But it escalated to gang signs and stuff. WHat I found disgusting is that adults were sitting there filming it. WEAK.

You know I find it odd, that with this board being so un-anonymous, that the amount of BS is constantly shot back and forth. I seriously hope someone dont get hurt behind some internet thuggin. But you are right, it is coming.

Well comes to find out, that 2 of the youngsters had guns. And were part of the bunch that ran. Talking to one of the youngsters that was on the side of the kid getting beaten, he said they had every intention of unloading on the other group. And he thanked me for stepping in because he didnt want to have anything to do with it, but didnt want to be an outcast and be called a punk for not going along with them. He said he was hella scared for his life/future. He is a straight A student with a lil brother he cares for (thats how I ran into him, he was dropping off his little brother as I was dropping off my kids).

This has really put me in good spirits. I know some may think it is soft, but this is the kind of impact in youngsters lives I try to make through my volunteering, coaching and mentoring. And here I was trying to save one kid and inadvertently potentially saved another kid.

It is though for real.. My brother says that same thing all the time. But he says I do too much. Too vocal, too helping, too willing to get involved.

Good stuff man. I put in a few hours a week at a clinic that sees a lot of under privileged youth and you just gotta remember to pick your battles.

hey what u did was legit, id a done exactly the same....soft??? naw, its called resposibility being a mature adult,and having heart, keep them spirits real high cause you just saved a kids life and saved a kid or a few from prison, so young and tough yet so easily influenced you really kinda put yourself on the line like u said about the guns and/or knives but if non one has heart enough to chance sacrafice then all our kids are doomed......i got mad respect for ya [worship]
