Dam i got a speeding contest ticket today by the chp! its my 1st speeding ticket ever, wut are the consequnces i might face??? Anybody out there got one???

One of my buddies got one a while back and it was not pretty. He had to hire a lawyer and pay a shit load in fines. I think it is an automatic 2 pts on your record and possibly a misdemeanor.

He put mines as a misdemeanor on my ticket! tell me the bottom line of wut i have to face!!! so i can be ready for it!

Seriously, I got one a long time ago and it was a misdemeanor. I went to court and they wanted to slap me with 4 points on it plus like over 1K in fines. I argued with the representative of the district attorney and got it knocked down to an unsafe start charge, one point and a $250 fine. I'm sure you can't do that now, they treat street racing like its worse than murder now so I wouldn't have any idea how to fight it other than getting an attorney. Good luck.

I got one a couple a years ago. I hired a lawyer for 5g's and never went to court, but I stilled payed about 1500 in fines, 3 days community service, but I kept my L's. Thats the only reason I hired one. Gotta have L's to work. So if I were you and you wanted to keep your L's get a Lawyer. They didnt impound my car either. Good Luck Bro [patriot]

I only paid the attorney I hired $1000

Def get an attorney and you should be able to get it down to a 1pt moving violation and have the misdemeanor dropped as well.

Really? Man, it sounds to me like he should have thanked you for pointing out that fact! I'm really suprised that after hearing your logic, he didn't apologize, massage your wrists because of the handcuffs, then give you a police escort to wherever you were going. That guy sounds like a f'n a'hole. Some cops are horrible huh?

haha same here! my brother and i were racing, they cuffed me and threw me in the back of the squad car. they said they were gonna take our cars, and blah blah blah, but since we are white, they let us off with a "excessive acceleration, breaking traction" ticket. it isnt a moving violation, so its basically a parking ticket LMAO!!!!

I got recently got one to I got court end of the month..... will see how it goes. My insurance has me down for 10pts including a dui and driving without a license this exhibition of speed. Shud really make my monthly payment interesting!! O well tho its my fault

i mean it may get dropped mine did 2 months ago if ur lucky they sent me to criminal court and the district attorney didnt press any charges he dropped them u might get lucky if its ur first one good luck

I don't get your point. He was yelling at me about some guy getting killed in the same area by a SPEEDING car, I didn't at anytime go over the posted 45 mph speed limit. I wasn't asking for him to take the ticket back, change the ticket or anything. I F'ed up and paid the price, I don't blame him for that at all.

it cant be speed contest if you never went over the posted speed limit..i flew off from a start right in front of a cop but never went over 30mph..the ticket was for exhibiton of speed..it got dropped to a 50$ fine and no points at all...goodluck

If you and another car take off together it's a speed contest..... If your trying to reach the speed limit before someone else it's a speed contest. I still have the ticket somewhere and it clearly says on it the speed limit and my speed were 45.

He will get charged with failure to appear, which is an additional fine. Also a bench warrant for his arrest.... he will eventually be in front of that stand, with larger fines... and less likely to get anything dropped or reduced.

That's a great idea!!!! Maybe next time just don't stop when the cop tries to pull you over, he can't give you a ticket if you don't pull over!!

LOL you are joking right? He would get a bench warrant, fines would double and he would most likely get in more trouble.

OP be a man and deal with it, I had gotten one last May for 109+ and speed contest. you will live through it and hopefully learn from your mistakes.

I got an exibition of speed and dui on 1 ticket. it sucked.... actually it was the same night as Greasy and we were "racing" [Whoo Whooooo!] [Big Grin] they clocked me at 118mph!. i got a laywer and it all got handled, its nothing man just handle your shit and everything will work out eventually.... good luck.
