Got a long day ahead of me. My brother is graduating from Great Lakes Naval Base, so me being the loving and supporting big brother I am, I booked a flight out there for myself and our best buddy (our mutual brother so to speak).
Sucks being on a budget thats for sure.
Leave Oakland at 2:45pm, lay over in denver, arrive at midway at 10:30pm. After getting bags, and rental car, we've got a 1hr drive to the base hotel. Then we gotta be up at 6am (4am cali time) which is ok, just sucks getting in late and being up earrrrly [BS flag]
Either way should be fun, get to see other family from chicago i havent seen in 5 years. [patriot] Wish me safe flying [Eek!]

lol... true story, last time i was out there i found a place that made the BEST pizza ever. Not kidding, i had 2 suit cases, i brought back a whole pizza from that place in one. This time i have 1 suit case, BUT i nestled (stacked) whatever its called, inside of the bigger version. So when i come back, im bringing like 4 back in the empty one [Eek!] [Big Grin] [Razz] lol [dance]

Congats to your brother. I graduated from Great Lakes Naval base back in 2004. Great Place. sounds like you're flying southwest. I've taken that flight many times.

Chicago is a great city. When you go, visit the naval pier and the bars in downtown. If your brother is of age and in uniform, he can catch a few free drinks.

Haha N8, funny you bring up Cabrini Greens, I walked right past the last project standing there just a bit ago. I used to go to Chicago all the time. Congrats to your brother. Head downtown to the Big Bar at the Hyatt on E. Wacker street, or check out Rush/Division area.

Phil

Well i got in last night and thank god im home.
Time errors forced no bringing of pizza back [Mad]

So i was supposed to arrive in Chicago at 10:30pm after my small layover in denver on thurs. Our flight was pushed back, 30 mins, 1 1/2hrs, then 2 1/2hrs, then 3 hrs [Frown]
Come to find out we were the last flight out b4 denver was shut down due to lightning storms. (yes we took off into lighting filled clouds, fuuun)...
We got into chicago(midway) at 1:45am [BS flag] as a result all car rentals were closed. Had to take a taxi from midway across town to O'Hare [BS flag] [BS flag] [BS flag] By the time we got to O'Hare, got the rental and drove to the base it was 4:50AM [Roll Eyes] and we had to wake at 6am. Needless to say that left time to unpack, shower and dress. Before heading out to my brothers graduation. No sleep for 2 days is brutal.
But the graduation none the less was good, and it was nice seeing my brother [patriot]

Yea I have a lot of family there and when I go I just leave my hat at home...lol. That whole Vicelords and Disciples thing is bananas. And the GD's hand shake you have to be in top shape to pull off. Hella motion in that shake.

Sorry your trip sucked.
