72 Maverick Grabber, 302 column shift c4

This is the only picture i have that i got from the seller. Looks like a crappy camera phone pic. 1st thing i'll do is change the wheels and lower the rear.

No big plans as of yet, it might sit for a while because of work. I really want to get rid of the wheels it has now to start. It would make a nice street/strip car because of the weight

No, there light! I had a 71 with a 302 and a C4, it was only like 2400lbs. Throw some power in that bitch and it'll fly!

I don't know what wheels would look good. Some torq thrust or magnum 500's wouldn't be too bad. It has some buckets out of like a taurus or some crap which look pretty bad. Back seats are perfect, as is the headliner. I'm looking for some 69-71 high back buckets, the 69 mach 1 seat fabric is a pretty close match for the rear seat.

I figure you put in a drivable 300-320 RWHP 302 and run mid 12's all day

I've been helping my girls brother with his maverick lately, car is light, but I'm ready to pitch the boat anchor 302 out of it.

His is a `73 4dr with a 302 and C4. Picked it up for 300 bucks and it runs and drives fine.

We threw a taurus electric fan, and a 3G alternator onto it a couple months ago.

This weekend we're picking up a running 5.0 from an `85 GT with an edelbrock intake and a set of E7 heads. Should be a bit better, and it was basicaly free [Smile]

real grabber and the paint came back too. It ended up having a 390 holley instead of a 600. Fun little car....

Whats the difference between a regular maverick and a grabber?

Posted by 71MercGT (Member # 4305) on :

Ill try and dig up pictures of my little 71 comet I have been finishing. Very fun car, and depending on what you want out of it, its beyond capable because of the size. Im running a stout nitrous small block and just finishing up some suspension problems. Once you start pushing power, let me know. Found little tricks and setups that Ive went through (actually a string of horrible combinations/problems lol) PM me for any information you need and good luck!
