Did you like how they made it a point to say an "assalt rifle"
They reported that 2 guns were used in the fatal shooting's when asked during the press con. They didn't say what the "other" gun was?..... Is it because it was a handgun? one that is never talked about. The news loves to throw around this generic "assalt rifle" term.

you know what this is going to do. We are going to see a big ass gun law/"crime bill" now more then ever we (Legal Gun Owners) need to ban together and tell all the misinformed people that guns are not the problem it's the evil people who have guns illegally. WATCH THE NEWS! Count the times they say" Assalt Riffle"

Just like every other incident like this..
Has anyone found out or reported on whether the fine upstanding citizen that killed those officers owned those fire arms legally?

It's kind of an important point in my mind, because lord knows the impending ban legislation will be directed towards those who actually follow and obey the laws. Something tells me our dearly departed murderer is going to fall on the shady side of the laws.

Now, if one of the stellar individuals who run our lives in Sacramento would put together a law that forced the people who actually commit these crimes to be drug around by the sack, preferably by a clydesdale or a monster truck, I would support that kind of gun legislation.

Join the NRA! Im a card carrying member and support most of the stuff they do.

Crimes like this wont be prevented by banning guns. Banning guns only prevent lawful people from owning them, not the crimials.

"Assault Rifle" is a generic term that the press made up, the press likes to instill fear, its how they control us.

Sweet! Thanks Slowback67, I just won a bet with myself that, once again, we the (law abiding) people will have to fight tooth and nail for our rights, thanks to the human equivalent of a panty stain!!

Woohoo!!

it's sad we follow the laws, yet we will be the ones punished.
The problem isn't the guns, it's these kinds of people that go in and out of prison....the guy that killed these cops had shot another guy before he shouldn't have been on the streets in the first place.

all of the politicians that try to use this to gain fame and support for more guns laws need to look in the mirror...
If they had harsh laws for criminals with violent crimes... These cops may still be alive...shame on you law makers for not adopting longer prison terms.

people who know nothing about guns decide our fate..... It's pretty scary if you sit and think about it... Wish people in state and federal legislation would listen to our side of the story. Let us guys who enjoy the hobby of guns, show you what it even takes to buy a gun.

Even legal gun owners/ex cops use guns... You can always debate both sides http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,25174935-1702,00.html?from=public_rss

Well I guess we will have to agree to dissagree....
Sounds like the guy was unstable...
Not fit to have firearms around, if he didn't pass all the testing it sounds like it was a mental thing. (jmo)

i totally get what a lot of you are saying that you do not want people who have done nothing wrong to be punished which i totally agree with you on.

However the question still is how does a crimal like the monster who killed those cops get any guns?

its not an easy issue to deal with but you have to ask your self is giving up some freedoms for safty worth it?

honestly i am really torn on the issue.

Us giving up our legal guns would not have changed the situation.

The shooter had an AK-47. Now in California it is already illegal to sell these to anyone. Yes the shooter still has it.

Same things will happen if you ban all guns in California. The crimials will still have them. And this guy just proved it.

Oh I know. I'm just saying this Lavell Mixon guy whos that gun control does not work. All you do is limit the freedom's of law abiding citizens while the criminals still run amuck. They will ALWAYS have access to weapons. A wanted parole violating felon was in possesion of a Automatic Weapon that has been banned for well over 10 years.

I couldn't have said it better myself.... If I lost it and went on a rampage and started running people over with my car....would they ban the type of car I was driving.. Basically a car is a car a gun is a gun, I don't see a reason to ban somthing because a small % of people abuse it... If we put a ban on everything that could kill a man... There wouldn't be anything left to own including your bare hands.

I just hope that you mean.... If you are not a fellon and can own firearms legally and the gun you are carrying is registered to you. I don't have a problem with that....

try to get a carry perm so you don't get yourself in trouble ( only reason I don't carry a handgun)

if I had one and had been there(and seen)the first shooting happened... That guy would have
About 5 rounds of 45acp in him.

he wouldn't know what hit him. And those guys could have lived if more people( law abiding)
Were able to carry and protect eachother. Just my opinion.

Alot of people who carry guns just want to show them off and start trouble.Mine is strictly for self-defense,not going around looking for trouble thats for sure.I work nightshift in an outside yard that gets broken into so im not taking any chances

In CA its legal for you to open carry with the gun unloaded and no magazine in the gun, you can keep a loaded magazine in your pocket. This is not a well known fact.

but that's not concealed and (imo) if someone can see my gun and it not be loaded.. You would lose the element of suprise on a criminal... If this guy was able to jump out of the car and shoot 2 officers... What chance would I have? Even if you practice every day the time to draw your wepon, load a mag, and send one home(chamber a round) you would have lost critical time and every second counts! Just thought I'd give it a
Try.... Best time so far concealed. 3 (self timed not 100% correct time) seconds and be on a target.

yes I did it with a full size 1911, 7rd mag and most important dummy rounds!!!!!!!

Clint Eastwood said it best in a movie....
"their are to kinds of men in this world, ones with loaded guns and ones with unloaded guns" which one would you want to be?

Posted by 532Fastback (Member # 1482) on :

The one who can load his gun and come on target in less than 3 seconds.

If your going to carry concealed without a permit you better be prepared to lose your gun ownership rights forever if you get caught.

I guess just leave my weapon at home and if someone breaks into the yard again ill have no way of defending myself?I mean come on boss lets be realistic,I understand we need to obey the laws but its not easy to get a license to carry and when you do have it you cant conceal it,so someone can just run up behind you, knock your ass out, take your gun and possibly kill you.Id rather have it hidden and whip out whenever needed, but see im not a knucklehead thats just gonna go around being stupid with it

I feel you 100% why not carry some of that kimber mace you hit someone with that you can blind them and work them over real good. I would hate to see you get in trouble for carrying without a perm. Just trying to help you out. I am going to apply for one here in Vallejo. Will see what happens.

Also been considering putting In ap for chp

you wouldn't notice someone running up behind you? If someone can run up behind you and knock your ass out they can still take your gun if its concealed or not and kill you with it so you shouldn't carry at all.

Hey anything can happen you should try your best to be prepared for anything... I try to never let my guard down and because of that I've been lucky. If someone wants to rob me, they better not let their guard down because if I have the chance I will defend myself and do what I have to, to make it home

What they need to do is tighten gun laws in the "FREE" states. sure something may be Illegal here but when you can drive over the nevada border with a fake NV Id and go buy an AK out of the classifieds section of the news paper and its "Cash and carry" which is perfectly legal in NV. well I think the law makers and politicans need to do a little more research!
