NA, my buddy was training there for a few months a yr or so ago but he had to stop because of his work sched. Were taking a class at west valley now since its only like $45/semester and he was takin classes their also so it worked out.Its a couple days a weeks for the class and the Instructor opens the gym sat and sunday for sparing for the few those want to for a few hrs.
We were thinking about going to Shamrocks Gym because its right around the corner from his apt and its a little cheaper than AKA. But id like to go to AKA eventually! lol
Are you training at aka?

Very sad, a guy at our gym used to train with him in SoCal before his job transferred him up here. He said he would do just about anything for his friends and always helped out new fighters work there way up.

Street racing just doesn't pay.

Can we please not BLAME street racing! Street racing is when you set up a 1/4 mile race on a deserted road and race. This Accident is due to "RECKLES DRIVING" some idiot trying to show off for a girl and it ends up in a TRAGEDY! We have seen this over and over (Hogan's son accident etc).

I watch UFC and I know Tapout has done a lot to help new fighter and that is awsome, I just hope the company will continue to help new fighter!

R.I.P my prayers goes out to his friends and family!

I disagree, we don't know what happened, he could be just speeding for all we know. The news say he was racing a Porshe, but were they there when it happened.

Still, it sucks for a successful person that had accomplished his goals in life to lose his life over a joy ride or accident.

Yea I feel those guys who cant stand to see people wearing the Fighters product but unfortunately that's what helps keep the sport going.. TapOut can be found all over the place now.. with out those sales from fans and wannabes they wouldnt have the $$ to help train new and upcoming fighters. Kinda goes both ways.

Streetracing is completely at fault here. We WILL blame streetracing as he was STREETRACING a Porsche. The guy in the Porsche has been arrested.

So once again STREET RACING is to blame here. Streetracing DOES kill people

Thanks,

Mike

The L.A. Times provides some new information about the car accident that left TapouT’s Charles “Mask” Lewis dead, his fiancée in the hospital, and the other driver in police custody, and at the moment all signs point to street racing as the cause of the accident:

Police said the two cars appeared to have been traveling side by side at a high rate of speed at 12:57 a.m. on Jamboree Road near the Upper Newport Bay when they collided. Officers said they are investigating whether the drivers were racing.

The Porsche driver, identified as Jeffrey David Kirby, 51, of Costa Mesa, was arrested after allegedly abandoning his car on a side street near the collision and taking off on foot with his female passenger. Kirby is being held on suspicion of felony drunk driving and driving under the influence. Bail is set at $2 million.

It’s still too early to say if it was really an ill-advised street race that killed the TapouT co-founder, but when two high-performing sports cars traveling side-by-side on a long, straight road at 1 a.m. ends with a high-speed fatal accident, that’s often the cause. That, or maybe some type of road rage incident, which isn’t any better. From the sounds of things the driver of the Porsche, Jeffrey David Kirby, has had his share of vehicular problems:

According to Orange County Superior Court records, Kirby has been cited for at least eight traffic violations since 2001, including a conviction for driving under the influence in which he was sentenced to three years' probation.

In the 2001 drunk driving arrest, Kirby allegedly told the arresting officer that his father was a retired CHP patrolman who always advised him to never submit to a sobriety test. He also told the officer that "he shouldn't be picking on people with money," according to the police report.

Naturally you want to wait until all the facts are out before making a judgment, but this guy sure isn’t getting any more likable the more we hear about him. Nothing says culpability quite like fleeing the scene of an accident. If it turns out he was drunk and street racing in an incident that killed another person, I have a feeling that plenty of people are going to be picking on him soon, regardless of whether he has money.

Street racing is dumb enough when teenage kids do it, but Mask was 45 and Kirby is 51. At that age a person has got to know better. Let’s hope, in spite of all this, that there is another explanation.

Naw, I train down in San Luis at SLO Kickboxing but I follow the sport a bit and from time to time AKA sends guys down and vice versa. Not to hijack the thread from Mask, but I wonder how shamrocks school is tho, its all about the individual instructor.....

I know it is almost as bad as people talking shit about people they don't know because of the cloths they were. Especialy on a RIP thread

The way i see it with people wearing tapout and stuff like that is its just like a team jersey. People wear A's hats and Raiders shirts but you know they aren't on the teams. All Tapout does is make shirts and sponsor fighters. Who cares if people want to support the fighters they like.
I go to the gym and i hear guys talking about their training for fighting and stuff like that and they aren't wearing any ufc stuff or anything and to me they don't look like fighters at all.
