When it comes down too it I really want an 03/04 cobra. I love my car & its almost paid off, but if I sold it I would have a nice down payment for a new one. Keep that Mofo, rebuild the motor & throw some boost at it... Your car is clean & more rare than your run of the mill 03/04 Cobra...

Looks like you took good care of the thing.
Given our economy, I think you can pull $6500-7500, as mentioned above.
Two years ago, I think this car would have fetched $9K.
Right now EVERYHTING is a buyers market. Do not sell anything you do not want to lose money on.
Best of luck.

SLPR93: I know once its pais off I will have more for mods & a car in my name. But bolt-ons don't cut it anymore. I would wanna build the motor & throw boost @ it. By then that's 10k. Kind of stuck between save money & speed later or speed now & have money later. Tough one
Blown 67: your a friggin genius john. Thanks for the pic help
Epik: u got a good point D. Car is giving me no issues & it did come out clean. Im tired of u beating me though
5.0-srt-4: yeah man the market sucks, but damn 6,500 is chump change. I've seen me for that price in not so good shape though. Market is poor though

after seeing this car the other night...I'd say keep it and built on it....there is not much out there cleaner right now...
I'd say it's worth 9-10K but as these guys say, the market sucks...you don't want to short this car out of what it really is....

True it is a buyers market. Exactly why I want that 04. LOL. I guess its all relative though. If my car sold for less & im getting the cobra for less then it evens out.

Cobras will stay pretty much right where they are if not drop....your car will be worth more in the right market....kind of like fox coupes

Beautiful car......no doubt about that.
I may have a line on a stock 03/04 Cobra drivetrain with blower, wiring harness, T56, & computer. 03/04 Cobra front & rear seats can be swapped in with ease.

My car with an 03 swap would be perfect. Shaun man let me know what body parts I need to sell. Toes, fingers.........

The swap with the parts would be about the same price as an 03-04 cobra anyways. Be realistic. If you cannot afford to make the car fast right now then just drive it for now. Really, who cares about a fast car. They never make money. Simply cost you money.

i agree with both statements above.

I think in my own mind I would be comfortable with 8k. Certainly not making back what I put into but I wouldn't kill myself over it. If I was offered it I would let it go & get a new one.
Truthfully I like the 03/04 cobras. But I think the allure of the power is what really makes me want it. If I could do a termi swap in my car though I would be more than content.
Posted by 92stangLX (Member # 3252) on

First off, your Cobra is very nice However once you go Terminator you will never look back. I would say sell it and get a Terminator!
Terminators are VERY fast.. even stock... and if they aren't fast enough for you then just swap the pulley

The market isn't poor, its a pile of dog shit right now. I've seen many Cobra's priced above what mine was but they weren't selling either. Your best bet is holding on to it for now unless your ready to take a huge hit on the car.

Dude that car is beautiful, I wouldn't sell for less than 9k. If you don't get ur asking price don't sell it, wait it out finish paying it off and then build that bitch. On the other hand if u want an 03/04 do it. U only live once enjoy yourself

I am gonna go out on a limb and say sell it. I personally would not mind taking a L if it will yield what I am truly after. But in that same breath I would try to make them both happen. If you can swing 2 car payments. They will sell anyone a car these days, so qualifying should only require you to have a pulse.
Good luck hard choice

if you sell it for $6500, let me know and I'll buy it....I'd love to have that car as a DD..
I'll sell my coupe to get that car...

514 mullet: from the research I've done I can get the swap done for around 10k. Only issue is coming up with that much cash. I missed a golden opportunity not too long ago
302DROP: those are custom gauges I ordered from speedhut.
92stanglx: yeah man ur right about the termi's being fast. From the few I have test driven they haul balls stock. Now I know I never should have driven one since its screwing with my mind lol.
Asskickn88: man I saw ur car up forever & I know u took a hit on yours. Now might not be the best time 2 sell it
707vibrantcobra93: I agree with you saying go after what I want. But im 22 in school so I know I could get that cobra eventually. But I think me keeping it & building it wiuld be best. My car with a 04 swap would be killer compared 2 just a newer one
N8: yeah its kinda like taking one step back but taking 2 steps forward. Lose a little to gain what I want. Did u decide on that mach yet?
Jordan0806: J man quit playing. Now im wondering what I could swing if I sold it for that little. Lol

Man this is just a re-run of what I was going threw cause I just wanna go fast... sold my cobra for 5500 didnt look no where as good as yours an had less mods bought a 2000 ls1 for 4800 put long tubes slp exhaust an slp lid already feels faster then my cobra. Gonna put cam an intake next an, make around 415hp at the wheels.

Nah, man....I decided to get a new roof and my house re-stucco'd. Sometimes I hate being a grown up.
Although I am considering the ill saleen that is being sold by one of our members here.
Shit I can go 7k if you do decide to sell it...lol. Sorry Jordan

EXcobra/LS1NOW: Yeah bro I know what u mean. Once u get to that wall where u gotta build a motor it gets tough. I respect the ls1 cars for their ability to bolt on power. But once u put a solid bottom end in a 4v & throw boost @ it the possibilites are endless. Plus I know u would be especially pissed if u got beat by a 96-98 cobra since u used 2 have 1. Lol
N8: yeah man being grown up is the pits. Ima ride out this young man wave long as I can. I got some other monies coming in probably beginning of feb. if it all looks right I might be putting it up for sale if I can't find a 03/04 swap

I am curious to know who offered to do an 03 Cobra swap for 10k. The drivetrain alone cost that. I can realistically tell you from experience. Whatever you think it will cost, double that price.

Talked 2 a highly reputable shop on these boards. Around 3k for the removal, install & tune. Had the motor, trans, ecm, cluster & everything for a little under 7k. If I could have gotten the money I would have had a terminated 96 for 10k or maybe a lil less if I pulled my own motor. Like I said I missed a golden opportunity

Actually no I wouldn't be mad, Would be happy cause I still love mustangs An when I make more money an can afford to make a mustang go fast I'll have one again! O an believe me If I had the money to for the bottom end an a procharger I would still be in the cobra right now!

F#ck it T, keep that B**ch & build it how u want eventually!!! Terminators are dime a dozen. It aint always about being fast. Both of my cars are relatively slow, but damnit, they look good. Your car is the cleanest 96-98 Cobra on this board IMO, & its unique. Yeah an 03-04 Cobra is gonna be fast, but IMO, they all look the same & they are boring to me.... I dont care if I get whipped all day, I would rather look clean before being the fastest, especially at your age....
Your car with a built bottom end & your choice of forced induction will whip on a pullied Cobra all day.... & look more unique doing it....

D thanks 4 the compliments man. I think the gereal concensus has been to keep the ride & build it or just drive it. Not only is the market bad to be selling but I shouldn't be in a rush to jump into more debt.
Think I will stack up my cash & keep the car. I figure when the right deal comes along I will know it & be able 2 act on it

You mentioned your still in school, so I would make sure to focus on finishing that first. You have a nice car already, so be patient. Once your done with school, then you can look into treating yourself to another car. I was recently looking to get an 03/04 Cobra myself (that or a newer vette), but with prices of homes being as low as they are, I think it would be wiser to invest in more property.

Its funny u mentioned the house thing. Me & a buddy are supposed 2 be trying to get into a house by the end of the year. But I want an 04 & he wants a zO6 haha. But ur right about it being a better investment. I figure once I start my career I can splurge a lil. But patience is definitely a virtute
