How fast have you been with an E7 head? I am curious since I run them, and a few of my friends have turned some impressive numbers with limited mods.
Please state mods, ET, and MPH...
N/A and Power Adder numbers wanted...

A friend of mine ran some impressive N/A numbers with his car. He hurt his Mid 9 sec combo, and threw this together for a final race in 08.
150,000 mile longblock from an 89 GT (sitting under the bench since '99)
PB Blaster used as the rings were freed, to turn it over. Took a few days of soaking.
E7 heads with plenty of carbon
B-303 camshaft (retarded 4 degrees)
Crane valve spring kit
Cobra 1.7 roller rockers
Edelbrock Performer RPM
575 cfm Demon
Mac 1 5/8" headers
air pan sealed to hood
McLeod diaphragm clutch
GF 5R Transmission, clutchless 3.19 low gear
4.86 gear in the 9 inch
3025 pounds
28X10.5 Tires
11.69 and 112 mph
I think this is very impressive!
My quest for 11.70's in Stock Eliminator rules is in the works...

90 LX Hatch.
This was Larry Geddes. He runs in NMRA Open Comp, and is the guy who developes and sells Geddex Products. The dial-in window marker, slick air, wheelie bar marker, and Burnout Gaurd.

I dont want to change the subject but I am just curious, how fast with the stock cam? how much HP with a stock cam?
Posted by Notch1320 (Member # 2647) on

Many boosted cars seem to run good numbers with the stock cam. I run stock lift, but lots of duration.

14.20 at 97(with a AOD) is that good lol.....I am a quiter I actualy didn't put any effort into it. I put on aluminums and was done with it. I have gone 10.10 with cast iron FE heads....it seems the fastest guy's will be the NHRA classes or NMRA those guy's are the ones who actualy make the entire car work for the rules they have. They are really the only ones who put out the effort to actualy try.

What did the AOD car pick up after installing aluminum heads?
My car is built for the class. Many people think it is nuts to attempt. It is very competetive, and a big challenge. The current record was just set at 11.49 by an 88 LX hatch. I am a ways off of that number, but it is attainable.
Seeing guys with 150 shots at the same ET keeps me going I guess. E7 heads make everything a challenge!

I think the very first pass after was a 13.7 at 105 I eventualy got it down to a 13.2 at 107 before I put in a 5 speed. I could never get it to launch like I wanted with a AOD and killed 2 of them. This is a full weight 91 LX with AC and all accs. I went to GT40X heads which I ported. there are a bunch of better heads out there but this is what I ended up with. I almost forgot. I also swaped in a E-cam adv 4 deg at the same time.
when you have to stick to a class it is all about the whole car. Some people love that sort of thing. I think it is awsome the times that can be had under the NHRA class rules. I just have never tried it myself.
