+1 That's where we go every year...in fact we'll be there mid january too. ours is 2 story and sleeps 8..but only for freinds and family. Plenty of resorts in the area.

If you like the nightlife and going out, south lake is the place to be, if you want a little less crowds and more of the "cabin in the mountains" feeling, i'd go for kings beach or incline village
theres tons of vacation rentals on craigslist, and you can also search on http://www.tahoeaccommodations.com/index.htm

what the differnce between north shore and south?? if im gonna try snowboarding were im i gonna wanna stay?? also whats closer to the casinos

north shore is quiter...but still fun. south does have a livelier nite life. both have casinos...south has more and bigger but its no reno. north is closer to reno 30-45 min. drive..thats what we usually do at night. if you're a beginner boarder...northstar has the best bunny slope(village run)..and you dont even have to worry about getting on a real lift...they have a ride-in cabin. but northstar is really expensive...its a higher-class resort(my favorite). all the other resorts are cool too...some are really small and have short runs.
