Hey,

Anyone know a good shop that can bend me some piping, and also weld some flanges for a DIY turbo kit.

Also any more links on DIY turbo kits for a fox would be handy [Smile]

Jeesus,

Just looked up the price of TIG welders...../cry screw the DIY kit [Frown]

Anyone know a good spot to get a TIG welder that doesn't cost 5k?

Time to learn to weld.

Check out the Miller Diversion 165. I am very happy with the one I got.

Thats not bad, like 1300 for the Diversion. Im just wondering how much I would use a welder after I fab up a turbo kit. Might be cheaper just to go with a pre-manufactured kit [Frown]

Althought the next time I have my motor out I want to weld up some of the crap holes in the engine bay.

Why not MIG it?

I decided on TIG due to the (at least from the mountain of info I have been digging through) more precise control you get. I know MIG is faster, but everything Ive read said that TIG welds are a lot more precise, easier for a beginning welder, but more time consuming.

Let me know your guys experience.

What blown 67 said. Mig is way easier to learn. Just get plenty of anti spatter spray and you will be allright.

Here is where I buy my bends from.. although you find them cheaper on ebay search.

It would be cheaper to buy a B&G hot side, rather than building your own. Here is mine waiting for the coldside to be built.

My old driver side MP70 turbo set-up, with bbk headers, 38mm Tial wastegate.. welded the whole thing up with a Hobart 140 MIG welder.
Only picture I have:

My old twin turbo T3(60/48) set-up, this was a long time ago.. Again the only picture I have od it.

Hey Mustang928,

Thanks for the info. Im gonna order the hot parts from either B&G or Pony Down. Ill fabricate my own cold parts as it doesnt look like I need any custom bends. Just a 180 degree, a couple 90 degrees and a few 45 degrees and just cut/weld/and use some silicone clamps...

Once i get my car back ill start, and post some pics [Smile]

Oh ya,

What size piping should I get for the cold side? 2 1/2" 3" or 3 1/2"
