So my fat ass went and bought a new mountain bike. For the price of refurbing my (13 year old) Stumpjumper a new bike was just too good a deal to pass up. Got a GT Avalanche 2.0 disc. It's pretty sweet.

My house is right behind the canal trails in Walnut Creek so I'm gonna start with those and work my way back up to single tracking and stuff.

Anybody on here know a good forum or email list for bay area mountain bikers? Or if you ride in or around Walnut Creek hit me up!

There is a large amount of folks that Mountain Bike in the San Ramon trails. I am sure if you ride up there a few times you will get in touch with some folks. I still ride my old school Giant to the gym and back as part of my workout. I wish I lived by some trails.

I ride everyweekend. My favorite trails are saratoga gap and wilder ranch so far. (Try those once you get more comfortable on your bike.)

Hit up www.singletracks.com Its a good site with a bunch of reviews on various different trails.

If you ever come ride in south bay or santa cruz area hit me up! I usually ride saturday mornings and sometimes on sundays.

Theres also a crew that rides several times a week around the bay.

They have a leave no one behind moto, and have people there that can teach you alot as well. They are also a bunch of nice people to go riding with.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
