I finally made up my mind between an SN95 Saleen and a Bullitt and I ended up with the Saleen. It has more miles and is an older model, but i'm very happy with my decision. I plan to keep it, so I hope it holds its value in the long run.

It needs minor work (ie: paint on the body kit, clutch soon, some decals replaced, and new driver seat upholstery), but it runs relly well compared to 4 other saleens I checked out for more money that were not as clean.

Heres some pics 10 mins before we signed the papers...








And heres how it looked 15 mins after










My plans for the near future are:
1. new clutch kit
2. get the Saleen kit repainted
3. Get the front sets replaced or reupholstered
4. PI HCI swap
5. Minor bolt-ons (mainly suspension)
6.

What i WANT:

Supercharged cobra motor

I love it!!! The 96-98 saleens are still the best lookin Saleens in my book, besides the new model. They might not be the fastest, but that can easily be changed...

i recomend some bilsteins, MM cc plates, & sportlines or H&R supersports for the basic suspension mods. or if u have the dough, MM coilover kit, lower control arms, & panhard bar...

PI swap is a must too, or swap a 96-98 32V....

I have a question... Is the wing held on by only 2 bolts & double sided tape?? I ask because i have an authentic S281 wing that I am going to install on my 95 & it only has 2 bolt holes. i have heard that the rest is held on by double sided tape??? Is it still stuck on there pretty good???

FR500 are the new Cobra R's, everyone and their mother has them now.......Buy some Saleen 18's, otherwise it looks like a GT with a kit on it, not an authentic Saleen....I mean thats what you paid for, right?....Just my 02..

BTW, Black S281's look bad ass!...If you're getting the bumper repainted, I'd get my mirrors painted black too...

Yes, thats one of the first things on my list. I'm trying ot find a shop to repaint my body kit for a decent price. If anyone has a hookup, please let me know. I'm planning on taking the kit off for paint and then replace the clutch while the body is apart.

I'm pretty anal about paint too

As much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree with you. I bought my FR500's over 2 years ago when nobody had them, now they are getting way too popular. I love how my FR's look on my Mach, but now I am considering trying to get something else....

I do agree to some extent that the FR500's are very common nowadays. I want to go with black rims, but the black 99+ Saleen rims are just too black for me. If they had replicas with a polished lip, I'd get them for sure, but since they dont the next best thing are these FR500's.

not bad. i liked it better with the silver r's because it went well with the saleen decals. plus, everone and there momma is going murdered out. but its what you like. nice ride!

yo dustin, the original saleen wings were 4 bolt but the newer ones are 2 bolt. the only repro that is 4 bolt is the one made by kaenen... thats the one im gonna get..

was this car near san lorenzo? i saw one that looked just like it on hesperian autozone sitting on 98 cobras.

sn95 saleens....the best looking saleen hands down.

Yes, I got this from Max...definitely a cool guy He did have it parked out in front of Autozone a few times.

As for the rims, I'll have to think twice about the 99+ Saleen rims. I really dont like chrome rims and the black ones are too black...so we'll have to see. Personally, I think the car looked terrible with those 98 cobra R's it had before I swapped them out. They were just too small and didnt flow well (in person). The pictures are deceiving

+1 man! Just waiting on new rubber for the rear and my CCW 505a's are going on.

and to the OP... looks killer man! Black is the hardest color to keep clean.. but man, it's unbeatable! (just my .02)

Thanks bro...yea they are definitely hard to find nowadays. I checked out 3 other ones nd they were all pretty beat up. Seems all of them have been repainted and at least the front bumper needs new paint.

This one was a STEAL for what I got it for...I negotiated for like 3 weeks and ended up buying it with no rims since I had the FR500's waiting in my garage I dont want to say the exact price, but it wasnt much more than what I sold my 2006 R6 for

Good luck on your search and try to find an unmodified/unmolested one like this one

u wouldnt believe what the previous owner picked it up for. if u do some searches ull see how cheap it was sold...dont know the exact figure but it was around 7k to 8k.

Damn...I searched it and looks like it sold for $6500 I should have bought it back then

Looks like Max made a little money off of me, but still....I didnt pay too much more than what he bought it for

personally, i would go w/ the flat spoke speedline style saleen chrome wheel if u can find them as they'll match what went w/ the car originally. theyre hard to find though..or u can go baller status and get some nice 3piece HRE wheels like these:


when i went to the 1st annual apex show under the 2nd owner bill, i saw this car in the shop...freakin bad ass car w/ power to match.

I actually ordered a pair of Saleen badges from the 2005+ models. They look cleaner than the 99-04 emblems
