Hello all,

New to the forums. I have an 03 Cobra and recently found out that my rear diff is leaking a bit. I can see a small amount of oil on the outside of the housing.

Any recommendations on a good repair shop? Any idea how much it should cost or how many hours of labor are involved?

I just want to know as much as I can before I talk to a shop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Darren.

Its really simple, so simple you dont even need to worry about who fixes it. The cost should be under or right at a $100 depending... I cant see a dealer charging more than $100 so take it to the dealer if you want.

Put the car on some jackstands and do it yourself.

The diff. housing gasket is easy to replace.

It all depends on if its just the rear cover leaking or one of the other seals. If its just the cover then its easy to fix. I'm local and can fix it for you, PM me if your interested.

I don't think it's as easy as many think. On an IRS the axles and carrier have to be removed to correctly replace the gasket. At least that's what the dealer told me when it was done under warranty.

In fact they tried to get out of doing it saying my aftermarket catback was the cause of the gasket going bad since it runs right under the diff carrier. In fact the service advisor was shady enough to tell me to remove the aftermarket catback and then take it to nearest Ford dealer 15 miles away and they should do it without a problem.
