Lesnar has so much potential to dominate the HW division of the UFC. Tonight's fight showed me two things about Lesnar.
1) He wanted to prove himself worthy of MMA contendership so he got a bit over zealous with his striking thus costing him a point without warning.
2) Give Brock a good solid 6 months to a year practicing submission fighting techniques and he will be a serious force to be dealt with.
I'd like to see Lesnar VS Sylvia. Sylvia would get fucking planted like a flower.
Prop's to Nogueira though for pulling off a sweet as submission victory of lop ass Sylvia.
I thought one of the best fights of the night was Tim Boetsch VS David Heath. Fucking Boetsch man handled Heath like a toy doll.

I did'nt know that. Kimbo has good management. He is going to make pretty good money for fighting a fat beer guzzling over the hill Bum

Maybe, but it would still be fun to watch. Kimbo has been training with Bas Rutten among others. So it seems he is taking his MMA career seriously these days. If Brock was smart he would not have been in the ring with a seasoned vet this early in his career. He should have had a couple more "tune up" fights first.

true he didn't make it out of the frist round but he was smashing frank mir the whole time. while frank laid there and took it. you can tell brock is new to the game of bjj. but i think he put on a great showing for his 2nd fight& 1st real fighter. he already has another (rumored)fight lined up. lets see him get some ground skills and see what he can do.
david heath look like my dog's stuffed bunny. being thrown around like that.

is not that he "didn't survive". He DOMINATED the round. He was on the ball, escaped an armbar pretty well and didn't stop punching. he simply got caught. It happens all the time. No shame in that. He proved that he could be a serious contender.

Now that I really think about it. After watching the video again, I really am not all that impressed with Lesnar. He did basically what any naturally bigger stronger guy would do to a smaller opponent and that is just go in and try to overpower someone and ground and pound. As the round progressed the more skilled person(Mir) took over and used his superior fighting ability and caught Lesnar in a submission and the fight was over. All in all the fight was for 90 seconds or so. At this stage anyone with a decent submission skills is gonna whoop Lesnars ass. he obviously needs alot more work before he tries to step his game up again.

You have to remember that Mir prefers fighting on his back. He is a ground technician. Those punches didn't knock Mir down. They were excuses for Mir to fall back and let Lesnar try a ground and pound game (which Mir wanted in the first place). Lesnar would have done better if he stayed in standup and let Mir come back off of his back.

Lesnar wanted to fight someone that was "credible". Well he got just that. He got probably one of the top 3 HW BJJ practitioners within the UFC.
Honestly Lesnar does need to work on his submission game but he would have been far better off having his debut match against someone like Assuerio Silva, Brad Imes (like initially planned) or Heath Herring.

Dunno have you seen Kimbo training with Rutten and such?
I think if he has a few years of practicing his ground game he will be a force to be reckoned with.
Brock is a savage, just needs time to be refined.
I was impressed with the way MIR handled him, but then again I am a fan of MIR.
I tried to bet some money on MIR versus Brock but CM4HAWKS wouldnt bite.

I watched the fight last night before the Superbowl. Lesner was very aggressive which cost him. He wasn't really paying attention to anything Mir did. If you watch it Mir knew exactly what he was doing. I was more impressed with Mir than Lesner. If Lesner lasted more than 1 round with Mir then i would have more respect for him but he didn't and i don't see a future in the UFC for him unless he walks into the octagon with respect to his opponent.

I agree. I mean isn't that what BJJ is all about? If you don't respect it then you get served.

Yeah...well you can't win them all.....atleast he got the heel hook.......finally.
I could make a joke about serra and him taking 50 shots to the head and face before landing a lucky spinning back fist.....but then again...I am a MIR fan...lol!

I think Mir would've been takin if it weren't for Mazzagatti stoping the fight for a mistaken punch to the back of the head....Lesner didn't even get a warning!,BS....This is ULTIMATE fighting right?....I don't think Mir could've done much in 1/2 guard with a 260 pound Lesner on top of him throwing bombs....In the end Lesner tapped way too fast as well anyway....
Mir was damn lucky Lesner was inexperienced, my .02

Try closer to 285/290lbs come fight day. If you've ever fought you'd know that after you dehydrate yourself for weigh-ins you will usually shoot up a good 10 to 15lbs depending upon the person. Fighters will eat like never before the evening prior to their fights.
