been reading all the reviews but want to avoid booking some dump. I will be going for President's Day weekend.
Would like to stay under $150-175 per night. Fireplace and hot tub would be a plus. Also walking distance to the Casinos would be a plus too.
Also, what are some cool things to do up there that don't cost an arm and a leg
Can anyone recommend anything for me?
Thanks!

My Favorite is the fantasy inn. Every room has a hot tub.

I don't know hotels or anything cause the inlaws have a cabin up there, but take the cruise across the lake on the tahoe queen. Also during the summer time the tram going up to I think its either heavenly or its sierra at tahoe. Really sweet veiws, don't think the veiwing deck is really open during the winter time.

Royal Valhalla hotel, its right down the street from harveys/harrahs. They have reasonable rates as well its been a few years since i been there but theyre worth it.
They have a pool/spa and also give free continental breakfast every morning if i remember.

Try the Blue Jay Lodge behind Harveys. There usually less than a $100 a night and have clean and updated rooms. Also walking distance to everything.

Ive stayed at the Fantasy Inn once... rooms are a bit trashy IMO, not worth the money.

i know u mentioned something close to the casinos but this may be worth checking out as the facilities sure make up for it.
i own a timeshare at ridge tahoe, which is right next to heavenly on the nevada side. its a gated resort that has lots of activities and conveniences like shuttles to take u to the resorts and also short gondola rides to heavenly ski lift.
u can choose from an all out suite with full kitchen living room, fireplace, etc to a smaller lockoff unit similar to a hotel room.
as far as cheap things to do. u can go sledding off one of the roads(actually there is a nice sledding area that is free near boulding lodge parking lot at heavenly, also near the ridge tahoe resort) or u can go snow boarding, which u can find discounted tickets on craigslist.
i like the ridge as its all the way up in the hills close to the resort and not too far to get to the casinos by shuttle. also, it's pretty nice to have the full suite to do ur own cookin and relax...check out their website at ridge-tahoe.com. they may be booked up by now as president's day weekend is a busy week for tahoe as a whole.
