I just dropped a new motor into my 79 pace car, and i really dont think it will pass smog. I have to the 18th of Nov to get it smogged or i cant drive it anymore. Is there any ways around this?

Do you honestly think there's any way around this? We all have to deal with the shit involved in living her in the smog Nazi state of CA. If your posting this up to find a hook up, I doubt your going to get someone to step forward and say they can do it for you. Even if you get a hook up and get the smog you still have to worry about the cops that dont know shit about smog pulling you over and sending you to the ref..... or getting nabbed by a roadside smog trap. I've seen em all over Sac the last couple years and they put them in spots that once you see it your already stuck. I'd do my best to get it legal, as long as you weren't stupid and stripped all the smog off or put a Victor Jr intake with a 750 Holley sticking through the hood you should be able to get it back to legal...... just my friendly advise. While my car isnt going to be 100% by the book legal I have all my paperwork and EO#s ready for when I get pulled over to cover my ass. good luck [patriot]

when i bought the car all the smog stuff was there. I also put it on the new motor. but...there was miles of vacum lines that were rotted out going to all this crap. the stock manifold was cracked. the stock 2bb carb was trash. So yes i did put a performer 302 intake on it with a 600 holley. and the fact that it has aluminum heads and a nice little cam now is what makes me think that it will not pass.

im from oklahoma, where it doesnt matter what the hell you have under the hood. i didnt even know about the smog shit till i already built the motor for it.....

try going and getting a pre test first just to see where you're at. I have built 3 dodge trucks latley all mid 80's with cams, aluminum intakes and aftermarket 4bbl carbs and they pass smog everytime even when they smell rich as shit.
I do use a 600 edelbrock part number 1400 it is smog legal for a bb chevy I think, but it comes with a C.A.R.B. sticker and the sticker dosen't specify what it's for ( thanks edelbrock [patriot] ) I haven't had any problems at 2 different smog stations
