Dana, looks great but with that suspension, I am dissappointed that you didn't get 345's to really set it off. Those rims aren't it either [Wink]

The rims are temps so i can move it around and with 345s i would ahve to do some major cutting and i want my backseat to fit [Wink]

fair enough.
But you don't need no stinkin back seat.

Also, what are the permanent wheels going to be?

Ya 555r's tend to run pretty small for some reason. I used to work at a tire place and always noticed how much smaller they were from a different tire that were same size

Dana Looks great and you are for sure doing everything the right way the first time around but shit man. Those Black bullets are gona lower the level of that car so much. You need to get something a little higher level then those. Espcially when your all said and done and all the money your gona put in the thing, your gona go with some knock off DD black bullets? Otherwise that the thing is gona be one mean SOB.

agreed...some nice 3piece or forged deep dish rims would set it off! [patriot] just don't do any cheap looking rims on there PLEASE...after all the $$$ put into it the car and the nice build the last wheels I would want to see on there is some replica $500 rims. Fiske, forgeline, iforged, HRE, Kenesis etc would be something to look into and it would set off the car very nicely [patriot] my .02

My dad is trying to convince me to keep the Cobra R wheels and 17s but i already have Cobra wheels on a Mustang of mine.
I like the Deep dish black bullits i think they look tight. I don't want to put ricey rims on this car.

Dana, is it for drag/street cruisin'/open track? I would have to agree, after all the work, set the car off. Go a wild on the paint, maybe something better then stock ford color. You like red, well do something that adds life as far as a color. Then seriously, get a nice rim. Not ricey, but a nice clean street machine look.

Its going to be for everything, its not going to be a trailer queen though.

Nobody is telling you to buy "ricey" rims, watever that means. [Confused] Just some real quality and real respectable rims would fit the car a lot more considering the type of car your building...here's some ideas:
Fikse
Forgeline
kinesis
iForged

I am building a classic Mustang not a porsche or ferrari. None of those rims i would put on an American Car. Thanks for the links, i never even heard of those companies.

Yeah Dana, nobody is telling you to get "ricey" rims. We are trying to tell you that those ford replica's are crap and Cheesey for such a classt car you are building. Fiske rims would look killer man. I know I will never ever run ford rims on my car. Just like my old Budniks man, they were something different that set the car apart from other cars. Shoot look at Drew's Budniks, they give his car a different look. Just try to get something different thats all.

I have been loosely following the fastback and its comin together quite nice. Looks like ur doin everything right the first time. As far as the rims go I guess it wouldn't be 2 big a deal to run the bullits since there not that expensive. But I kno the best lookn cars are the ones with the wheels and paint that have u sayin " damn I never seen that before"

i am sure there is but i don't know wheel companies and when i search for them on the internet i just get crap wheel companies.
I haven't seen an old school with Black Deep dish Bullits before.

THANK YOU! You can't take one of the most recognizable/rare Mustangs out there, invest the kind of coin that you are investing, and top it off with some run of the mill cheap-$hit 5.0 replica wheels. Wheels are one of the most important touches you can add to a car. That Fastback is screaming for you to come provacative in the wheel department.

Just my opinion (:

fm5's are some of the SICKEST wheels on the market. but look at their site to see if theres others you like better. fiske makes a spectacular quality wheel. It doesnt have to be "bling bling" to be a bad ass wheel.

Dana Budniks can get pricey, but the best time to buy them is at the Goodguys show. They usually have a tent there and offere a better price then.

they look nothing like an 03 cobra wheel. hey man its your car, do what you want. id just hate to see everything else be done right, then you go with some played out ass wheel like a bullit or some kind of faggy budnick billet wheel.

Totally agree... look way to plain for me too. get a 3 piece high end rim. Just take your time.. work on the car and chose the "right" rims once it's almost done. having the car painted and ready to go will give you a better idea of what to get.

hey dana if u plan to go budniks get at them at either the mar. or april good guys show because they have a show special that really is a good deal i priced out a set of 17x8/17x9 and the show price was $500 cheaper than what u see online. but expect to pay roughly 2k-2500 for budniks but that of course is with custom back spacing and that price range is the really wide 17's and fair size 18's. u should get on the pro-touring website and have some of those guys do some photo shopping for u. or try the newstalgia wheel site and u can kind of get an idea of they will look like!

i dont know, theres so many billet wheels on the market, its hard to tell whats what. billet wheels are played out in general, not just budnicks. i could charge 700 a piece for my turds, doesnt mean theyre worth that.

The way I see it.... This topic is like asking ur boys, "should I marry her?" Go with ur instinct and what u like best. Cuz man at the end of the day ur gonna be the one stuck with the girl at home, living with her day in day out. Hey if u don't happen to like the finished product you can always upgrade. I think u will get a better sense of what style to choose from once the car is complete. My .02 Cents [patriot]

Here is what I am going with for my '65 fastback...

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=wheelCloseUp&wheelMake=Shelby&wheelModel=Torq-Thrust+M&wheelFinish=Black+w%2FMach+Lip

Same look that you wanted, but more reputable company with a vintage flair. Also, I think 18's are too much for a '64-'66 fastback, but look killer on a '67 or later. In the end, input from others is great, but do what you like. It's your car.

Thanks. I think they should set my car off nicely. We're having to mini-tub and run a similar 4 link to make it all fit... 245's in the front on a 17x8 and 315 DR's in the rear on 17x10.5's.

So I put the Mach 1 wheels and tires on Craig's List last night, thinking it would take a little bit to sell them. They sold today and my new FR500's are still out being custom painted. So... I grabbed the wheel and tire combo I have for my fastback and put those on temporarily. I was thinking that there was no way it would clear, but it looks alright... even when I jack the rear wheel up into the fenderwell. It looks like I might be running around on the 315 DR's for a few days...

Any chance that the DR's might kick up stones and chip the rear bumper?

can i see a picture of those rims on your Fastback?

You live in El Dorado hills? Is that in the El Dorado National forest?

El Dorado Hills is right above Folsom. As for seeing them on the fastback, that might be tough right now. We just got the '65 back from media blasting and it is completely apart...

It's nowhere near finished. I guess I should change my sig to say "65% '65 fastback".
