This morning I went into work, like any other day. My bosses' boss sent me a mandatory meeting invitation. When I arrived, I sat down with about 10 other people and got told they are cutting jobs due to the slow economy.
Hey, no big deal - getting let go always bites but there will be another new job around the corner, new things to do, people to meet, and places to go. Starting out on a new job is fun.
I know a lot of other people here are in the same boat so I want to let you know what's going on with my situation, we're all in the same boat.
Hope things get better for everyone.

Thanks for the good words. I do computer security and have been working in the financial industry ever since 2001, when the high tech sector was tanking. Now the pendulum is swinging the other way. I'm not going to name my company, out of respect for them.
Losing a job is always difficult, especially after a long run, but I've been through that enough times that it doesn't bother me much. I'll end up somewhere else, probably better, definitely interesting.
Imagine if marriage was like that. Oh wait, it kind of is!

my mom has been laid of a couple of times and she took a 6 month vacation in the mean time and took her time finding a new job!
im guessing sometimes you might take it as a long summer from school until you go back!
theres always unemployment paychecks, if your company offers that!
anywho good luck finding a job! looks like you already got interviews lined up!
enjoy the time off!

Nice to hear that you are staying positive. I would be devistated if I lost my job. No job = no income for me

I work for a staffing company too, shoot an e-mail to thorp@netapp.com with your resume and I'll see if the recruiters have anything.

When I was laid off several years back, it was a blessing in disguise. I finally pursued the job I really wanted. I did not work for 13 months, and that was rough.
