Good morning all, I hope this finds everyone safe following a Friday night.

With that said today is a sad day for me and for many others. As many of you all know, I'm a firefighter for Contra Costa County and I'm saddened to report that we lost 2 brothers this morning in a house fire in San Pablo. These two individuals were very close to me(I went through the academy with one). The rest of the 400 firefighters we have are also equally absolutely devastated by this loss.

These guys went into a fully involved house to rescue two people trapped inside, they were able to retrieve one. They went back in to get the other and never came out. They were 36 and 34 years old respectfully, both with a wife and kids.

If you all could keep these individuals and their families in your thoughts and prayers, I/WE would all appreciate it. I'm sure most of you will be aware of this by the news sometime today, but I'm sharing this with you all on a personal level right now because the Mustang community is like a brotherhood to me.

I only ask that for 24 hours you all be safe in honor of these brave men.

Brother in Arms

Rick

If you wouldn't mind could you PM me with the names of the f/f's. I hope it wasn't someone that I used to work with or trained with.

Matt and Scott were put to rest today. The memorial was actually Friday at the Concord Pavillion, over 5,000 people of which about 3,000 were firefighters/cops/paramedics from all over California and from as far away as New York(FDNY), Boston, Canada, and everywhere in between. I'm really proud to be part of such a fraternity especially after witnessing what was an extraordinary act of brotherhood. I thank you you guys again, my other fraternity, for keeping them and their families in your thoughts/prayers. [patriot]

Sincerely,
Rick
