I can't even tell what that guys says when he talks on his show. I think his brain might be going south, imparing his judgement. That was some stupid shit to say on public TV.

I feel the exact same way T. That shit just makes me hella mad. Like you said it will never go away.

I caught a piece of this this morning on GMA. Honestly I dont think he said something I would consider racist (If I heard it correctly). It was inappropriate as hell tho and maybe should cost him his job. But only because he is not really a Howard Stern type of shock jock. I mean the dude does interviews with politicians and so on. SO he has the ear of a different crowd IMO.

Ya'll know I am quick to pull the race card, but I say racist no, inappropriate yes. but he has Al Sharpton on his ass, so he will be fired.

He should be taken off the radio, hes an old racist piece of shit. I can't believe people even listen to his old ass he has nothing interesting to say.

Posted by 94gt (Member # 3060) on :

I'm suprised anyone heard it... from that I understand his market share is in the toilet.

Posted by hidnn.o.s. (Member # 1219) on :

Can anyone quote exactly what this guy even said? They talk about it all over talk radio, the news on TV etc, but don't tell me what he said.

Al Sharpton is a real piece of work imo though....

Posted by N8 (Member # 6048) on :

The snippet I heard he referred to the womens Rutger's team which is predominantly black as "Nappy head Ho's". It was a mix of his statement and the pseudo-slang tone he used. If there was more I missed it.

Read up for more info

Al Sharpton cracks me up at times. But the man gets results. And dude eventually will be fired, or some hefty compensation will happen

I hope hes fired but i doubt it, the dude makes 5 million a year. Does he have some ranch where he takes cancer kids? I remember Howard Stern talking about how Imus is corrupt cause he has a cancer ranch for kids but only brings cancer kids there for 1 week out of the year and doesn't have to pay for his ranch at all.

I dont think it's a big deal for the simple fact that rappers say it in every damn song. I dont see Al sharpton or reggie jackson jumping on every rap star saying those demeaning words.

I knew someone was going to say this. Telling a story and making an observance/judgement of a person is a different story. Plus it is vastly different coming out the mouth of a 60-ish redneck. And just to clear up, Rev Shaprton and Delores Tucker both had their rampage on the rap industry for the same reason (along with a few other Revs). Thus the parental advisory stickers.

And did you just say Reggie Jackson....lmao

i think i heard this on espn or something friday afternoon and on rob arnie and dawn on 98 rock today rob said the samething im saying now.

what he said was uncalled for, and he should be suspended without pay.

It's bullshit someone gets crucified for saying some (albeit stupid) shit, but when people say "hey what about the dudes rapping about bitches/ho's/etc?", people can just say "oh they're just telling a story, don't worry about it"

Fuck the double standard

And al sharpton and jesse jackson are complete pieces of shit, those two bottom-dwelling enablers should be shot simply for doing nothing more useful to society than being a two-man race-card-pulling squad. Fuck them

Posted by phil a (Member # 6951) on :

I just went back and re-read some posts and had to comment further - so you're telling me since the record industry forced CDs with explicit (and possibly sexually demeaning) lyrics to be labeled with a warning, rappers should now be exonerated from all criticism? Is it really that easy?

Okay, so why not just have a disclaimer before Imus' show airs? That should clear everything up, shouldn't it? "The following 60 minutes of airtime will contain explicit comments not suitable for all age groups"

Such a crock of shit

Al sharpton and jesse Jackson have spoke out regarding the violence in rap music on many occasions...

well I would think Imus has the right to say whatever he wants because he has freedom of speech. His employer also has the right to fire him whenever they wish for negative conduct..

Of course he has his freedom of speech, just not on our public airways in which the FCC owns. The FCC can pull the license of CBS and MSNBC for that type of conduct, not to mention the outcry from the public. I think that the major corporations that pulled their advertisements made a great decision followed up by the firing of his ass! There is no place for racism/sexism in society! Furthermore, I believe that the executives and producers at Viacom, CBS, and MSNBC are just as responsible for the action of Imus as he is, as this is not the first time he has said a racist remark.

You honestly don't think calling an African American a,” Nappy Head" is racist? Or calling a female a, "Ho" is sexist? [Confused] IMO and in the eyes of many others, calling a African American a, "Nappy Head" is as derogatory as calling them the "N-word" and should not be tolerated... As I said before everyone has the right to freedom of speech, just not on my dime. We the taxpayers pay for the airwaves that he and others are on. If he wants to make comments like that he should do it on his own time not on mine!

For one I am African American and no I wouldnt call that racist. Inflammatory and sexist his remarks were. But "I" wouldnt consider it racist. But I do see how one could take it that way. It is no where near calling someone a "nigg**".

But judging from the other responses it seems like it is a good thing he is gone. So to that I say [patriot]

Posted by svt306snake (Member # 1967) on :

rappers dont have sponsors for one so you cant compare the two. imus has people he has to answer to. rappers make money for the record company or they are gone. imus is on the radio and had people like gm and some other big companies that advertised during his show. then people say that sharpton and jackson never said anything about the rappers saying that stuff when they have done that for a long time in the past. what he said was racist and sexiest and he got what he deserved. the rappers songs that call women ho's and bitches are not played on the radio you must take your ass to store and by uncensored version or download it. in which case it was your choice and yes you can say turn the station but its not that easy it was on every station you would have to leave earth before you could get away from it. he got what he deserves , glad he apologised and those girls got the closure that they needed.

Posted by 1968_Fastback (Member # 1482) on :

OK the difference between rappers and Imus IS:
IMUS called a group of people that people know nappy ass hoes, when we see those basketball players we KNOW IMus called them that.
Rappers just say nappy ass hoes, you have no idea what female they are talking about they don't name names in their rap songs. They could be talking about anyone.
So comparing them is like night and day

I don't know anything about this old white dude but what he said didn't seem racist at all.

"Nappy haired Ho's" lolz isn't that all he said??

when is the last time a white lady was called or even considered a nappy headed ho come on now you ususally hear things like stupid blonde chick or something like that but not nappy we all know that is a word that has been used to describe blacks and i too am black

Posted by SlowStockFox (Member # 1081) on :

ok i read a few post and saw what it was about... i had no idea. yea it wrong... but i dont think he should get all that. things go 2 ways. my sister has half african american kids. yea he went far saying its nappy.... but think what am are saying bout us{white ppl etc}. this race war will never end and it is wrong.but for sure he was wrong for saying it. but i think ppl over react on all kinds of things. people now a days are sue happy for sure. this is really a contorveral {sp} topic. might add more after i go and read the thread. and no im not raciest in any way... so dont dog me.

Posted by SlowStockFox (Member # 1081) on :

the nappy headed hos part is directed to am ppl i must say. the hos part who cares. guys are just as much hos as them. i never heard of this till i read it on the site. well he got in trouble and shit happen. leave it alone. i am white but i am not racist at all. this is just kinda how i feel. t you do make some good points. well im done with this and thats all i got to say. [patriot]

Posted by N8 (Member # 6048) on :

I think it was very ill-timed and dis-tasteful joke. And the connotations behind it because it came from a white dude is what really got his ass in trouble. Not to mention he is a older white dude who is no doubt closer to the rebel flag waving racist era than most DJ's. Which I find interesting because I feel had this been someone like David Spade or a younger hipper white DJ or comedian I dont think this would have been a issue. I remember back in the day Rick Chase used to say some off the hook shit, along the lines of what this cat said. But since he was "dialed" into the Ghetto community, it was passed off as a joke as if it came from Martin Lawrence or Eddie Murphy. but as they say "If, If was a fifth we'd all be drunk". So I cant really say what would have happened had someone else said this. but I think alot of this is perception. You got a old confederate lookin white dude saying this and it just gets skewed automatically due to the racial climate in the US.
[patriot] For the racist climate in America today. It finally backfired on someone [patriot]

But T and others did bring up some very valid points, and I understand how and why one could feel it was racist.

it shouldnt mater the color or ethnic background of the person making the comment on a public broadcasting system, the comment is the same degree of disrespect, and should equally bare the same consequences for all. i agree the racial climate in the u.s is out of control, partly due to people such as al sharpton and jeese jackson who make a living at this point in thier carers keeping it stured up, by the way, when are they going to apologize to the duke lacross team they falsely accused. and just what is "a confederate looking white dude"

IMUS

I agree with your sentiment about it shouldnt matter, a bad statement was made and that should be it. But alot of it is perception. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson wouldnt have to exist in their current capacity if it werent for the racial inequalities that exist today. So society itself keeps them in business. And I dont think they accused anyone in the Duke Lacrosse thing. They just wanted to make sure justice was issued. The lawyer for the girl did the accusing.
