did you taper them at the ends like on shelbys or are they the same width all the way?

I did even width the whole way, 10" stripes with a 2" gap. I just like that look, I'm not trying to make a straight shelby or eleanor clone, I just like the body kit and colors. I won't be putting any fake badges or logos on it.

thats cool, i think the whole shelby clone thing has been overdone anyways. better to just customize it so it looks unique.

Wet sanding fun fun what kind of clear coat did you use?

No clear, I'm using single stage polyurethane. (No joke this time, that was yesterday)

Here are the latest pix. The stripes are done, and this is the first coat of paint on the rest of the car. Next step, wetsanding and final coat of paint (I'm using 2 coats). Followed by final sand and polish.

Hope it's just your camera thats low tech. Looks like hella orange peel on the fender. If it is orangre peel you could always wet sand at the end. looks clean though

Yet not so easy with a single stage paint job however as what you see is the material that you are working with.Thats where the 2-3 stage paintjobs are VERY forgiving.Anyhow looks like the car is turning out tight

All true. I just finished 2 hours of wetsanding and knocked it back down to flat. Now for the next coat.

The paint application is now completed. I'm going to let it cure for a while before wetsanding and polishing. There is a bit more peel than you get with a sprayed application, but the work was easy and only took a few days. Total cost for this paint job was $100 for paint and $50 for supplies. Not too shabby! It should polish up nicely.
