So I got pulled over by the CHP on Skyline Blvd for speeding today. The officer was pretty cool but he asked a lot of questions about my car and had me pop the hood and saw that I had heads, intake, and all the supporting mods. He checked under the car for cats Of course he asked if everything had carb # and I said yes because it does. Then he said that even though I had carb # for everything that he could still give me a $1500 ticket and tell me to drive the car straight home. After which a BAR rep would come to look at the car at my expense to check the car for legal parts. He said that after market parts are a "gray area" for California. Any cops in here care to chime in on this.

Oh and before he let me go he said "We don't pull over many mustangs like yours anymore, it's mostly shitty cars like WRX's and Honda's." I thought that was pretty funny.

Well, let me just say that ticket sucks, I got one for too loud and have to see the REF before I can take it on the road again. I have a few Cop friends tell me that is the way the Police are trying to stop street racing. I am thinking on putting Texas plates on my Mustang just so Cops cant send me to the REF.

I talked to a smog rep and they told me the same thing "mod parts are a grey area for the state of CA" He said that he talked with someone higher up and they told him as long as everything is connected they will smog it and if it passes it passes.

Most LEO's that have minimal automotive experience do not care about CARB E/O numbers. They just care about making quota's. I was pulled over in my old 92 coupe which had a HCI combo and wasn't exactly legal but due to my union decal and fire plates he cut me some slack and I was able to drive home without any further incident. His exact quote was......

"Well you're not who we're targeting. We're mainly looking for 18 to 25 year olds driving modified imports. Just drive her home quietly and take another route other than Sunrise home...have a good evening Mr.XXXXXXX."

that is some bullshit. i got a smog ticket a couple years ago, but i was just sent to a referee and i didn't have to pay a fine.

unless you are military, you cant really do that. If you are a cali resident, and put on another states plates and get caught... hellooooo big fine.

Yep theres a link on the CHP site that says "Help us catch CHEATERs" and then it talks about people putting other states plates on their cars.

If your going to post atleast make it readable and have some sense to it. All i got out of that sentence is your a wannabe hustler that needs to take english classes over.

EDIT: no idea why you think i want to be a hustler, a hustler is just a car sales man who thinks hes cool.

Hmmm....I believe I can get Oaklahoma plates for my Mustang being I've a house there. From what I just read, due to the great air quality, there are no emission laws there. [Big Grin] [patriot]

So you don't get flamed again, put your post into Micorsoft Word and do a spell and grammar check before posting. Thanks

Well, I not worried about getting a fine for Texas plates, I have a house there and I dont have a job, so there is no way of knowing where I am resident at.
