any paticular brand?

not familiar with paint brands at all. I want to try to get the pant myself because I know shops mark it up to make a buck. But I hear "DuPont" alot...is that a good brand?

Ernesto
I think his paint was custom, not a custom mix but not a stock color either. I must have this color....It looks like something from house of kolor.

honda offers a similar color on thier Element car as wel as toyota for thier scions XB, it looks like a burnt orange metallic. I am sure House of Kolor would have it. But I am sure someone can mix who knows what they're doing?!

theres a guy on this board with a 60's mustang. Lives in Antioch/brentwood that has that very same hot lava paint on his car. hopefully he'll chime in. There also was a post about him finishing the car sometime this year, you might be able to find it some where.

It’s kind of annoying but you will have to find out what manufacture this “hot lava” was. Was it aftermarket or a OEM color. Cause each manufacture has there own version/hue. If you go down to a local auto pant store (Hayward color, the color factory in Fremont, etc.) they have books of colors with paint chips for reference. From OEM factory colors books, to books for paint companies like house of Kolor.

But if this firebird was a factory color it should be pretty easy to get the paint code.

Happy hunting [patriot]

so DuPont doesn't have lava?

I just painted an '07 v-10 m5. It sure looked like lava to me,lol. I painted it in Standox. Which is owned by DuPont. I think the code was A30 or A31. the undercoat or under hood color was indianapolis red.

although standox is owend by dupont they are still 2 diffrent paint brands when i asked our rep. about standox he said we would have to be a standox dealer in order to order standox product. so its the same but diffrent. we are a dupont / nason dealer and of course nason is for the budget minded customer
