Help please. I'm looking at getting a new commuter car. I like the RSX, but the are stopping them this year. Is the civic SI a better value? What would you choose and why?

while I am a ford man, I would suggest taking a buddy and testing both out, making a list of what you like and don't like about both.

I will look into the Mazda!
Sorry 94gt, I had you confused with someone else. Haven't been on here much.

I'm actually leaning towards getting a new SI myself. How much is it out the door? I think the MSRP is around $21,500.

the mazdaspeed 3 is a kickass car and will hand the si it's ass. but it's also turbo'd and has more upkeep and much worse gas mileage, but the mazda 3 with the 2.3l is a great car, my girlfriend has one and with almost 50k on it it's held up great and little to no real problems (cept for her driving skills)
but you can never go wrong with a honda, and they are making a 4 door Si now also.

Sorry, but I would choose neither one. What exactly are you lookin' for? If I had my choice of daily drivers I would have to say either a
1999-2004 Gt or a Lexus GS400.
I have a '97 Ranger that I use as a daily driver right now. It was cheap as fuck and gets 23MPG. Definitely nothing to get exited over but it serves it's purpose

I'd get the Si, hands down. SRT-4's are cool too.

The SI has better power, but the looks IMO are kinda ehhh, the RSX looks great, but due to cost for what you get. No reall my bag. The Mazdaspeed vehicles are nice. The 3, is way too small for you. I might want to mention you are tall. That car you would crammed like a sardine. The Mazdaspeed 6 is more your size. Its more of an accord size vehicle. Decent power plus looks.

How is Mazda in terms of reliability and service? I'm not too familiar with Mazda. I do know it's hard to beat Honda and Toyota, they just keep on going, unless they're stolen.

I agree...even the si might be a bit small for you. I'd get the si though over the RSX. No real reason...maybe I trust the honda si more.

MazdaSpeed6 FTW
My family has had a view Mazdas before, none have ever had any problems before 150K, and even then, nothing major. Just CD players wearing out and whatnot. ou'r 93 protoge finally died at 200K
'98 protege still goin at 160Kish. Mazda's are just as reliable as toyotas and hondas but are often overlooked. not sure why.. They are far more fun to drive too.

I can vouch for that! Fun car and gets 24-25mpg with 50/50 and 26-28 mpg all highway. And can run High 13's bone stock. I ran a best of 14.0 against a headwind at Infinion.
