I closed down 237 last tuesday. My baby is gone, my truck. I thought I should share my pictures of my truck. They said I was lucky to walk away. But i wish my truck was okay . I hit my air bag pretty hard blacked out not sure what really happened . . . ..

WOW thats a hard crash. That 237 can come to an abrubt halt at times. One good thing to think about is that your here and alive. You would probably be dead right now if you were in a honda anything or toyota just about anything as well as the rest of the smaller cars. Hope everybody is well.

I was on my way home from work . . . .about 330 pm, I was going about 60 just cruzin cause I know there was going to be a bunch of traffic coming up at zanker . . .. . well this Toyota sequoia slammed on the brakes. I looked over my should to the left there was no cars. I was watching that lane incase a situation came up and I need a way out. So I move out and I'm not sure if I hit the yota or the explorer going 75+ hit me. I blacked out not sure what happened. I was told I was running away from the emts and fire dept. crying about my truck. They strapped me down to the board and away I went in the ambulance. But the topper is the guy who hit me ( 20 yrs) was yelling at the paramedics to take him to the same hospital as his girlfriend. Mean I guess I was having a semi seizure from head trauma . . . lang story shirt I was in the hospital till 9 pm. I'll be back at work by wed. I feel fine just sad about my broken heart of my truck. But as you all have said at least I’m alive and that’s what the doctors said when I was rambling on about the truck. They said I shouldn’t of walked away from that accident. I'll post a pic of my pimp ride that I inherited from my great aunt. . . ..

Wow thats crazy. The cab looks ok so i don't know why they said your lucky to be alive unless you fell 50 feet into a raging river and went under i don't think anyone would die from that or the air bags kill instead of save.

think she was driving behind some car..
She saw the car slaming on the brakes- or slowing down, i don't remember..
She tried changing lanes becuase she had been observing the mepty lane, proceded to change lanes to avoid hitting the car infront of her i presume.
She changed lanes and all hell broke loose.
Either she got hit from behind- or/and hit the guy infront of her.
By the pics it looks like both.
That's kinda what i got from it.. but it's late and i'm tired...

Once again, glad you are ok, seems like a pretty hard hit. be glad you were on a nice big track!

as everyone else said...fuck the truck. At least you are OK. Shit at least your air bags went off for you. I hit black ice went strait into a snowbank and rolled my mountaineer over 1 1/2 times and landed on the side. Neither air bag went off. I guess I was wiggin out too because I was trying to get people to help me push it onto its wheels so I could still drive home HAHAHA.

now its all on your insurance company

I agree that there is no reason you shouldn't have walked away. This is how cars/trucks are designed now days and this is how they protect occupants. Both ends crushed, the middle held up.

airbag sopbox---

Airbags (dash/wheel) only deploy in a frontal collision over 20-30 mph. There is a sensor, basically a ballbearing held to a magnet that releases with enough force, that activates the airbags. Sidecurtains will deploy on side impact or rollover. Neither will deploy in a rear impact, they would do more harm than good.

And yes they smoke after they deploy, that is normal. They use an explosive charge. That is why they are shipped labled explosive. They are also covered in a powder like cornstarch to keep them from sticking.

And no, they did not pop. If they remained inflated when you hit them it would be like hitting a brick wall. They are meant to decelerate the occupants rapidly.
