i have some tree sap on my car that's being a real bitch to take off. i used a clay bar, but in some parts the sap won't budge, especially on the windshield. are there any other products and/or techniques that i should give a shot?

boil some hot water. pour it into a small container.(drip in a little dish soap) dip the clay into (the water) and then work the area. dip the clay into the very hot water several times.(work the area) have a towel ready to wipe the excess water off.

the hot water is the key...that loosens the sap.

I had some pretty heavy sap spots on my car when from when it was sitting and the meguires (SP?) bug and tar remover worked pretty good...it also got rid of the dark spots on my rear bumper from the exhaust..

As a painter I would describe two kinds of cleaners, to prep to surface for paint(or detail shops) water soluble. and chemical.

chemical- takes off grease and tar. (DuPont3900/3901)

water- takes off tree sap. and salt.
(DuPont3909)

If the sap is on the windshield you could always try a razor blade, and be careful with any chemicals on the paint.

simple green is a water soluble cleaner that takes grease and other stuff that is paint safe.

another vote for simple green

or for your windsheild just use a MR. CLEAN earaser.

OR use a mr. clear earaser dipped in simple green

I wouldn't use the earaser on the paint though

i got an idea...dont park under trees [Razz] lol. Ne way yea, ive heard simple green does an ok job. I worry about some chemicals hurting the paint
