Without taxes there would be no roads to drive on, no police to protect you, no firefighters to save your house when its on fire.
Yeah 100 years ago the USA was doing good but you had to put your own house out when it was on fire, you had to make your own roads to ride your horse on. No one went to school because they couldn't afford it and school was more like discipline than learning.
The only thing i agree with on this post is that we shouldn't have to press 1 for English. There should be no other languages as an option everything should be in English.

Kid, you missed the whole piont of this post. Why do you think we have all these new taxes??? We had taxes back then, duh. Re read it and think about what you wrote and look at the new taxes. I'd also like to point out a 100 years ago the USA wasn't even considered a Power, we were considered a third world country. More taxes came with WW1 and WW2 to protect our freedom. Who would pay the Armed Forces without taxes?

Communism? Do you even know the difference between the Republic in which we currently live in and a Communist government?
Communism is basically a "pure" democracy. It is where no central government exsists. All major decisions are taken by the society as a whole. Karl Marx created this idea and as of today, there has never been a pure democracy.
Also, attempts to setup communist societies have always led to the formation of dictatorships that try to put a democratic "face" on their oppressive practices. They hold elections, but all candidates must belong to the one ruling party. Thus the electorate (people) really have no choice. Anyone who dares to speak out against this status quos is subject to persecution, imprisonment, and/or execution.
We live in a REPUBLIC. In a republic, the populace hires people to make the decisions for them. In other words, we elect representatives. These representatives do the research and study needed to make informed decisions and then collectively come together to do so; such as the Senate and the House of Representatives aka Congress. If we don't like the decisions they make (the laws they pass), then we can vote them out and replace them with someone else.
So for everyone replying to this, and to the person who posted this topic, make your gripe heard in a VOTE instead of bitching about something you don't like, to everyone else over the internet.
By the way, many people may not like the way our government is run, but I challenge ANY of you to live outside the USA and say that place is run BETTER. We live in the greatest nation in the world and if I have to pay taxes in order to keep it that way, so be it.

I think there needs to be a change in policies and government. the system is outdated. and corrupt. Ask any hard working immigrant. Or american born immigrant. I am a gringo. I think the systems that are in place need to be updated as much as the software on this website.

Yeap... it's almost as bad as the former system of south africa, ofcourse discrimination is not legally protected, but quite close. Unfortunately it is what it is and there is no point in complaining, just hopefully developing a better plan. could be worse.. it could be a cast system like in south america.

Uh, a good chunk of those aren't taxes. Anything that's a license or a permit is there to PREVENT a tax on the general public and only make those requesting it pay the fee. And I've been in business 23 years and I've never had to pay a "workers compensation tax" I like the rest of it though ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
