I bought My 99 STS used about 3 year's ago with 40,000 miles on it and a GM 50/50,000 protection plan on it. I have had My share of problem's with this car but luckily it has all been covered under warranty. In the last 2 month's it has been in the shop twice for head gasket's and 2 new intake cam's and all the lifter's on the intake side. So I was thinking of getting rid of the car before the warranty is up cause I only have about 8,000 mile s left under warranty, well one of the head bolt's got messed up and with the aluminum block it could'nt be repaired so they are dropping in a new northstar for Me and it's only going to cost Me 100 buck's! All I have to say is the GM Protection plan kick's ass and has paid for itself 4 times over. Bottom line is if You are going to own a GM get the best warranty You can [Razz] .

Damn with all those problems a person who didn't get a warranty would be screwed.

All those problems mean sell ASAP warranty or not personally.

Yeah without the warranty the car would of been gone long long ago. It is a great looking and riding car so with the new engine I will give it a run to see how it hold's out. They also sent Me an offer to extend My extended warranty [Big Grin] .

40,000 miles and you are having all those problems? That's the reason why I wouldn't own a GM. NEVER had any problems like that with a Ford or a Dodge.

Car has 80,000 miles on it and I agree with You on the quality. If I did'nt have the warranty I would be [Mad] .

The problem that ended up taking down the engine was a problem with the thread's on the aluminum block which was probably a mechanic's error, I was'nt told that it was their fault just guessing.
