So I've succeeded in talking my mom into getting a laptop financed in her name and having myself pay for it (my credit is just a lil too bad to get it myself). Here are the specs
Dell Inspiron E1505
Intel Core Duo Processor - 1.83GHz/667MHz/2 X 1 MB L2 Cache
15.4" Wide Screen XGA Display with TrueLife
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz, 2 Dimm
128MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1300 HyperMemory
80GB 7200rpm SATA HD
8x CD/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write
Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini Card
2Yr Ltd Warranty with CompleteCare Accidental Damage coverage
Carbon Fiber QuickSnap Cover
also included is a Dell 725 Color Printer (free)
Total after taxes is $1384. I can't wait to get it

Sounds like a nice laptop... but you may be able to save a couple hundred bucks with a Dell coupon. Check out http://www.notebookreview.com/dellCoupon.asp for Dell coupons posted often or check http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12 for folks who post up deals or links to other Dell coupons.

also if your not in a rush check slickdeals.net daily to see if your laptop pops up cheaper. My buddy and I bought the same dell laptop except he paid a couple hundred less.

you'll love it, I love my inspiron 710m
3lb ultra portable's rock.
I hope you got the truelife or whatever screen with the coating, side by side my 710m the screen looks so much better than my gf's inspiron 1150's screen that is larger but doesn't have the coating.

whats the "true life" screen???

"A TrueLife display offers a viewing experience that is more crisp and more vivid than lower resolution displays that have anti-glare coatings and lower contrast ratios. Enjoy movies and photos like never before."
from what I've read it's a glossy coating rather than a matte one. we'll see when I get it (its supposed to ship the 16th )
