A buddy of mine e-mailed me that a few days ago but i gotta raise the [BS flag]

What did they say on espn cuz if it were legit i'm sure it would plastered on most sportspages and run all night long on espn highlights [Razz]

I just don't think there is any way for someone to generate enough rotation for 2 complete turns from simply jumping with your legs [Roll Eyes]

EDIT: ...not to mention why didn't the crowd go crazy IMMEDIATELY when he dunked it [Confused]

DAMN....now I play alot of hoop and can still jump pretty good in my old age..lol. I too must play the [BS flag] only because dude seems to be about my height 6-1 or 2. And I spent the greater part of my youth trying to pull that dunk off (had a 42in vert in HS and Uni). And never got past a 360 and 1/4. And dude does it effortlessly off of what seemed to be a 1/2 jump. And with no after momentum. But then again Vince jumped clear over a 7' dude from outside the key, so I guess this is possible too.

If that is real, dude is the truth. thinking about it. Screw that, Vince Carter said he couldnt do a 720... And he is 6'7" with a rocket in his ass. Again I say [BS flag]

Sorry but i'm pulling the [BS flag] on that quote. Everyones claims of verticals are so overrated, even the NBA's. Seriously its simple logic, i mean if you had a 42in vertical, and i mean vertical as in not taking no steps or dropsteps or anything just standing still and jumping which should be how to truely measure your vert, and you say you are 6'2 then thats is 3 feet 6 inches so your head would be 4 inches from the rim of 10 FT. That means from a standing jump you should have been able to go between your legs and all type of shit if you had that much hops. If you had that much hops you would have been able to jump over someone that is 6'8 like vince did to the 7'2 guy. Most verticals are measured from dropsteps and shit whenever i see combines and tryouts, so that why i never believe the numbers. And then you watch the dunk contests and the have those electronic jump meters to measure how high they are getting and you always see like 36-38 inches and this is when they are running and jumping. But right before they dunk it shows their vertical and it will say 42 or so [BS flag] if they really have a 42 then they better be at like 46-48 when they are running and that shit ain't happening.

it was a 540* dunk, watch when they do the slow mo,when he has spun 1.5 turns the ball is in the hoop and after its past the rim he finishes the .5 turn to make it 720.

and i would be WAY more impressed if it was a white guy [Razz]

Yea I rarely brag about verticals myself as they can be tainted numbers. But believe me when a D1 school signs a scholar athlete they send them thru the ringers. Coming out of highschool into Uni I had a verified 42in vertical. What you are referring to is a standing vertical which I registered a 36in. So in a sense you are right, your just mixing up the 2.

But the 720/540 is [BS flag] But that dude has hella hops in real life. He is from the And 1 tour. But 720 I'd have to see it in real life

[Eek!] [Eek!] I dont know, that looks real to me...

ooooooooh, I don't know about that one... The screen looked to be flickering an awful lot

I definitely throw up the BS flag on that one. Computer enhanced. It was a 360, that was cut into 4 segments and reinhanced.

BS!

You are correct in the explanation of different techniques to measure verticals.

I come from a volleyball background where everyone has hops and everyone is 6'6" or taller [Eek!]

I'm 5'11" and i had a legit 30" vert. My vertical reach standing is 7'4" and w/o a drop-step i can get up above the rim.

Sounds like you had/have some serious potential in the hoops game what was the outcome of all the scouting and signing with the Univ?

I still call [BS flag] on the vid I too think VC would be one of the many, many few that could even think about doing a dunk like that [worship]

looks kind of real to me. I had a 32" vertical in high school, lol its probably like 26" now [Embarrassed]

I played D1, Then some overseas semi pro ball, came back played for a traveling team. The I played the 3 on 3 circuit for a while for a sponsored team. Now I am just a old man (32 pfft) to some of the teens with all this crazy and-1 shit.

Man that video does look hella real. But I firmly believe that is impossible to do. Especially the way he did it. I mean VC even said he was trying to do it and couldnt. I mean I never got close and he did it effortlessly.

n8y8,

(whats that name mean anyway - n8y8)

Just want to let you guys know that Bill Simmons (writer for espn) was commenting on that dunk. So its gotta be real.

That can easily be a voice over. I refuse to believe that until I see it for myself. Not hatin, but man I know first hand how hard that shit is. Its utterly amazin, next to VC's dunk over the 7' dude. And I saw that first hand live TV so I know that was real.

Maybe he just has more hops and coordination. He probably practiced that dunk 4ever. Whos to say he didn't do it just because VC can't [Roll Eyes] . There are waaaaay better dunkers out there than VC, not everyone gets to make it on TV [patriot]

I may have to eat my words, my homeboy Sante (he was on the And 1 tour for a minute) said he actually saw dude do this dunk before. But it was on a low rim (read: dunk courts). I still gotta see it for myself. And I know there are some extremely good jumpers out there. ANd I have played with folks who can jump way higher than me (Hook, Blimp, Tank, Harold Miner....). But that shit is next to impossible. And I have never seen it before. Not even close.

Posted by CLEEN 50 (Member # 5867) on :

haha, whatever happened to that loser Harold Miner aka baby Jordan. He sucked big time and was only good for one thing, the DUNK. When I used to watch him in the NBA he had no game, lol.

ROFL! Is that Vince Carter himself talking [Wink]

I agree that dunk is hard as all hell...

Thats not a 720. Its a 540 and even after he lands its still not a 720.

man that dunk look's hella fake...I thought i was playin' NBA JAM when i saw that shit. I'm suprised the ball wasn't on fire too. [Big Grin]

i don't see why i could not be possible, if it was a 540 then it is probably true( i won't look at the clip again) there is really not much behind doing a 540 rotation jumping off your feet.
I can't jump for shit, but i could pull 360s on rollerskates, on even ground, effortlessly back when i was 18-19. and 540s with some effort..
That guys is a heck of a lot taller than me, can jump much higher, so why not? [patriot]
