I was wondering if anybody knows anything about this Saleen? Before I go all the way to Sacramento to look at it. Hopefully it is a real 1999 S351 Saleen, thats the one I have been looking for.

That's alot of dough. Looking at your vehicles, you may have it. I honestly would get the GT500 for that price.

Another vote for the GT500. 500hp w/ zero miles and a factory warrenty.

Although that Saleen is really nice [Smile]

I think the GT500 is going to marked up to $65K, I was thinking about the GT500 last year, just have to see it in person, I just want something to drive, rare, easy to work on, pushrod motor, easy to make run 10s, 88 GT been taking to long to finish, just dont have the time to finish my 88 GT.

That looks like an awesome car. If I had the money, I would swoop that in a heart beat. Since you want a rare and fun car with a fast pushrod motor, this car fits those criteria perfectly. You can't go wrong with 575 RWHP! Besides, the S351 will be faster and $20k cheaper than a 2007 GT500. That’s just my opinion.

Sick car but the 200 mph claims are over the top (claimed 172 mph here):

I'm pretty confident that Lee is NOT going to get that car. I'd bet on it.

I've been a Saleen enthusiast for years, owned one until I got my 04 Cobra, I can tell you that this car is NOT REAL S351. It may exist, but it ain't a real Saleen. This car may have 575 rwhp from a 383ci motor, but you'd be payin' 44k for a NON-SALEEN. If the car exhists, I'd be willing to bet there are alotta discrepancies. You can jus tell that's not the language of a Saleen owner. Don't send a dime to this person without seein' the car. [patriot]

You can save yourself $20,000 by buying the older body style S351. A lot of people, including myself, even prefer the look of the 94-98 Saleen. There are a couple on Ebay right now, including a built '95 for $24K (in Bakersfield). Pretty much the same car except for the 5 speed and a helluva lot cheaper.

Like others have said, for $44K I'd rather have the new Shelby. By the end of the year, you will be able to order one for MSRP.

True. I have two '95 S351-R's sitting at home for just little more than the price of that one '99. I prefer the looks of the '94-'98 body-style myself. However, the '99 S351s appeal to a lot of collectors because it is the last year of the S351 and also the only year the S351s were available in the "New Edge" body style (only 45 being produced that year). Honestly, if I had the money, I wouldn't mind owning it. I'd prefer a different color though. The asking price isn't too bad considering the other '99s I've seen are going for high 40's. But, then again, the other ones I've seen have less than 10,000 miles on them.

I'd question the motor being a 383. To be certain get the VIN call Liz @ Saleen to get it authenticated! She'll give you all the options that the car left factory with.

I didn't know they made 351s in 99. I thought 98 was the last year?

I am really thinking hard about it, I was just wondering if anybody has seen the car or knew the owner, if it is a real 1999 S351 it would be nice to have.

When are you gonna go check it out? you should get the vin for verification like that guy suggested.

I called and left a messange, I am waiting for the call back, I hope to God it is not a 281.

Speaking of stroked S351s, how's your beast coming along?

Working on getting parts painted & polished. I'm getting the itch to drive it again.

Verify with team Saleen cause Liz is gone. I got my info pretty easily. Rare care is always worth having but the old Saleen S351 body style's are my favorites.

Doesn't look like there is a bumper number on the front picture.

Oh yeah, 98 wasn't last year for S351's, but they did have a half dozen or so rollover 99's that were 2000's. So technically, 2000 was the last year.

I finally got hold on the owner, he blew up the original motor, had a Coast High Performance stroked 351 to a 383, put a 2.95 pulley on the S-trim, powerpipe and said that Forced Fed Performance tuned it but they didnt recommend taking past 4500 rpm, WTF, so $44k and its going to need some work still, with the tune!!!

I would hold off. For me to pay that kind of money, the car would have to be almost perfect and not need any additional work. An S351-R that you can't take past 4500 rpm???? That's no fun.

Well yes and no. Yes, there were some S351s built on the 2000 chassis. However, since the S351s couldn't be emissions certified past 1999, cars that were built on the 2000 chassis were labeled as '99s. Saleen's official view is that 1999 was the final production year for the S351.

OK everyone this is my Saleen S-351. I guarantee that it is 100% authentic. I have a mild tune on the car right now which puts out that 575 to the tires. For all you Saleen guys that don't know... this car was only made in 1999 on top of that there were only 45 made. The 383 is a stroked out 351. Oh yeah I'll smoke the gt 500 and my car will be worth more down the road. I've had serious offers on the car but decided to keep it after all. I like rep'n the stang. I've raced a Lambo Mercelago on 580 and smoked that too!! I'll try to show up at the next function to show the car. See you there.
