well fellas i came across an 01 saleen mustang for sale today. car is nice but has a salvage title. the guy wants 15,000 or best offer on it. im thinking of selling my 96 cobra and the t-top and telling the guy i will give him 12,500 or 13 to get the saleen. the car has all the correct badging, kit, and motor. i would basically be selling the cobra and paying it off and then putting whatever i had left over from it and the t-top towards the saleen. do you guys think its worth it or should i just stay with the cobra? tell me what u guys think. as far as money goes i would probably be just a little above what i owe on my cobra now. and also are saleens supercharged 2v motors or 4v?

It almost sounds like you are giving up your "bird in the hand for 2 in the bush". Did you run a carfax to see why it has a salvage title? Also let me get this, you own the 86 and owe on the Cobra. So you are going to give up the car you own, pay off the car you owe on, only to get a car you will owe more on and not have a car you own? If it makes you happy jump on it, but I personally would not do it. Almost sounds like you would be doing to much to get this car. But if it is your dream car hey get it. But find out why it is salvage. Matter of fact I have a car fax for the next 30 days. PM me the VIN and I'll hook you up.

I'm not sure I understand...would you be financing money on the Saleen...if so where or what bank would finance a salvaged car? I thought the didn't do that? I could be wrong or I could have mis-read your post.

In either case I'd pass on it,...unless like n8y8 said "its your dream car".

In the end go with your gut

I wouldn't buy a car with a salvaged titled unless the price was right

yeah man those are all good points. i had just seen the car for sale today and went to talk to the guy about it earlier. ive just been runnin hella scenarios through my head since like 2:00 and had to get some second opinions. and your probably right that i wouldnt be able to get financing for the salvage title. Would be hella shit to swing in a short amount of time. I have always wanted a saleen or an 03-04 cobra tho.... I do plan on eventually selling the cobra and the t-top to get a terminator or a saleen, but shit if i get a car with a salvate title im basically stuck with it and will take a hit if i decide to sell it. thanks fellas, keep the ideas comin tho

Does the one you're interested in have a blower on it...not all of them come with one.

saleens are blown 2v motors, only RARE saleen cobra models were 4v.

Sell and/or pay off your existing car first THEN look into buying your dream car.

And make your dream car a clean title one as well. [Wink]

I would stay away from a salvage title car especially for that kind of money.

with a body kit and couple of seriol numbers....LOL..unless its the supercharged model????? is this one the supercharged model??? you can call Saleen and ask them how it was built originally.

Also I would never buy a SALVAGE car unless it was one of my dream cars and I would keep it for a long time! Run carfax and see what happend to it, Good luck bro and well if you decide to get it POST SOME PICS.

hey T if this is the red one in tha P then i wouldnt really get it , he said it only had front end damage when he got it , and i know its hella clean but unless he will take 11k or 12k for it then dont get it , if u look really closely u can see that its not perfect, at first he had a sign on it that said 5500 and i walked up to his door with cash to buy it and then he said that his dad put the wrong sign on it, and when i talked to him he wouldnt budge off 15k its not worth it , the rims are hella clean tho but ya only worth like 11 or 12
