I just finished up my 5 lug conversion on my 88 vert. It needs to be lowered, but I like it. What do you think?

Much better, where did you get the wheels/tires?

Posted by silverLX (Member # 3207) on :

I got them in a trade for installing a shift kit and tilt steering column on a 91 GT.

If anyone would be interested in trading wheels let me know. Also, if you are interested in buying the car, let me know.

It has a salvage title, AOD w/shift kit, 3.73's, 1.7 cobra rockers, high flow cats, AC delete, flowmasters.

You never see them with 4 lug welds either [Roll Eyes]

This is the reason I said the rims are available for trade(since some people like them more than others, and I got such a good deal on them.)

Thanks for the compliments

Silver, if you find a place that has reasonable prices on those R caps, shoot me a PM. I need a set of 4. The smaller ones for 17x9.

Thanks!

Luke, the one I posted is the best deal I can find. He only has 7 of them though.

Are those Replica wheels?

Also, the curvature looks a little different than my M179's. If they are Ford rims, are they the original R58's or the new style 50's?

Nice [Cool] That thing would look really good w/ a set of '03 cobras. [patriot]

I really have no idea if they are replica's or not. I have some of the same wheels on my notch but not chrome and they look identical to me.

When do we get to see your car with the new wheels?

Posted by Luke87GT (Member # 21) on :

Ya those are the newer style 50's, not the original R58/M179

The 50's have a wider center core.

50's:

IMHO, the original R58's are far more handsome and sleek looking. My rims are sitting in the garage. I plan to install them as soon as I find tires, hopefully this weekend.

Then I will likely lower the car another 1/2" and roll the fenders.

The chrome wheels are the R58 looking ones with numbers and symbols around the valve stem. I never knew there was a difference. I do agree with you on the R58's looking a little better.

Your car should look awesome!

we'll have to see.

It will require a little work to avoid any rubbing issues however, imho.

Hope to get these bad boys on this weekend.
