Just thought I would share with everyone that I will be installing a Hellion Turbo System this weekend. The install is going on a 122K mile Notchback (I call them Trunksters, hence the screen name). Currently the car has an E-303 cam I believe since it passed smog yesterday and a BBK 70MM Throttle body. Suspension wise it has subframes, Jamex Springs, KYB Struts and Shocks and CC Plates. Other upgrades are a centerforce dual friction clutch, 3.27 gears and an SVO Girdle.

New parts to be installed along with Hellion Turbo Kit:

1. Bassani Stainless Steel 2.5" Cat Back
2. Ditching the Hurst and going with Pro 5.0
3. Auto Meter Boost Gauge
4. BBK Fuel Pressure Regulator

I will be tuning the car at Apex on the 22nd, I hope to see around 400hp and 475tq.

So far I have removed all the old exhaust, (it was actually all brand new bbk headers, off road h-pipe and 2 chamber cat backs) fan, shroud, alternator and smog pump, upper intake manifold, plugs and injectors, just need to drop the gas tank.

I will start the install as soon as the damn UPS Truck gets to my house.

I will update my progress later tomorrow night.

I forgot to take pics of the tear down, but I'll take a ton of the install. The tear down is the easy part anyhow.

if it blows its only a stock motor, $100-200+ bucks for another used one at a junkyard or online

Good luck with the install! You are going to run the stock head's? stock valve spring's? [Whoo Whooooo!] for notches or trunkster's. [Big Grin]

Can't say the motor has that mileage for sure. Car had 5 owners prior to me, and it's in immaculate condition, if the motor blows, I'll just buy a DSS built long block.

I would go with the factory used block "make sure You get the forged piston's" instead of paying 2000 buck's for a short block that probably won't last much longer than the stock block. With the money You save You could get an aftermarket block and start building a real engine. [worship]

how much did you end up paying for that Turbo kit? Did it come complete with an intercooler and everything, or did you have to piece everything yourself?

Posted by 91Trunkster (Member # 6598) on :

100% complete kit, minus the fuel pressure regulator, i'm about 6 grand into it with msd, bassani exhaust and some misc shit, hope it'll be worth it.

The hot side is complete, haven't started the cold side yet, intercooler is mounted though, pan is tap, feed and drain are done.

Waiting for Fluidyne Radiator, have new electric fan and overflow to go in, ditched the AC and smog bs, still have to bolt up the bassani cat back and figure out what size belt I need.

Nothing major left to do, just tighten a few bolts and thats about it, I'll be done later this week, have an appointment with Shaun to have it tuned.

Turbo Kit: 5,000
Cooling Upgrades: 760
New Alternator & Battery: 250
MSD / Coil: 250
Catback: 500
Misc: Lost track

MY FACE AFTER I HIT THE GAS, PRICELESS!!!

Man great work on the car, wouldn't change a thing about it. We seem to have similar taste.. sorry to jack your thread but your car brought back memories of what my coupe once looked like recently before it was stolen and they snatched the wheels... -

But good choice the going turbo, I personally wouldn't go any other way if I had the choice.. [patriot] [patriot]

Man that looks sweet! I wish I had another car to do that system on it. When is your tuning apointment with shuan?

Posted by 91Trunkster (Member # 6598) on :

I had some issues at the tune yesterday with who knows what, Shaun can speak more on that, so it didn't get tuned, I played with timing and fuel pressure today and just took it out, ALL I CAN SAY IS SCARY (in a good way)!!!
