just curious if anybody here rides dirbikes could give me some input..
I'm looking at a 03' Suzuki RM 250
the owner says it has Rg3 suspension, renthal bars, some type of exhaust not quite sure. But he wants 2800. is that a good deal? are RM 250s pretty good bikes?
should i wait for a 4 stroke or should this be a good bike?

Dude go for the 4 stroke. once you got 1 the 2cycles aren't enough anymore. Especially if you are 200lbs or over. I have a 92'wr250 (old Betsy)and an 03' 426 GREEN STICKER. I love it! Old betsy gets a ride now and then but I can't get off my 4 stroke.

That seems like a good price for that bike. Just have to make sure the top end or clutch isnt burned out. If the bike is really clean, like REALLY clean, chances are the bike was maintained pretty well. If its still dirty from the last ride I wouldn't buy it. If your'e going to race it or are thinking about it I'd go with a four stroke. If this is your first bike I'd go with a 250F, theyve got alot of power and are very easy to ride than a 125. The powerband on a 250 two stroke is really snappy so it would take some getting used to. Check out my 250F I'm thinking about selling.

Honda CRF250R

Is this your first dirtbike? Do you have any experience riding a bike? If not, then go with a old 125cc. If so, then go right on ahead. Seems like a good deal.

I had an almost new 650 for over 2 year's and jumped on a late 90 250 and was'nt impressed. The enduro's are usually a bit heavier though! If You don't have friend's who ride regularly I would'nt waste the money on it as it's only fun when You ride with someone.

JohnCM, what are you going to use it for? That is a biggie in bike selection.

Well I live in New Mexico now, and theres a ton of places to ride.

I used to have a xr50 and a Yamaha 600 street bike. Never had a big dirtbike though.

So I guess you're primarily going to use it to mob in the desert. For desert riding you can't beat an XR650, theyve won more Baja 1000 championships than any other bikes. A Yamaha WR or Suzuki DRZ 400 would be good too. If you want a new bike I'd get a CRF250 or 450 X. If you get that RM be sure to run Engine Ice and install a skid plate and radiator guards before taking it out into the desert.
