Question guys, How many fix-it tickets can you get before your car is impounded? Also for the cops, do you guys always record when you pull someone over for a fix-it ticket? Does it show up on your record? I was just curious so thanks in advance

Your car can not be impounded for fix it tickets. And no, info is not recorded on how many tickets you have unless you they are outstanding and you have warrants.

After thinking about it some more, after 5 unpaid parking tickets your car can be impounded. So it could fall under the same deal if they are unpaid.

This questions isnt because my car is in trouble Chris
Thanks for the replies Sharkattack. I was just curious because I didnt know that your car can get impounded after two warnings. My friends' car got impounded this past weekend because he had two notices already for exhaust. Does warnings also apply? Do they record those?

Sort of. All PD contacts are stored in a database. So unless looking for a specific contact, it would be hard to keep track of a specific warning unless the officer who issued the warning kept a written record.
Impounded for exhaust? What was the authority section used for the tow? Or was there a suspended DL or unlicenced driver involved? A gross polluter can be towed ie no smog equipment.

Im thinking his exhaust didnt have a carb # on it and thats why they impounded it. He had a previous fix-it ticket six months ago for it and never did anything to it. The cop this last time I guess found the record of the other warning and then impounded his car for a month. He cant get it out until January 6th.

No it wasn't Rick. Like you said, im sure they wouldn't impound a fireman's car. They are a tad bit more lenient on our public defenders. No, this was an unfortunate friend who decided not to listen to his fix-it tickets and fate caught up with him. I was just curious for my own reasons.
