ive been reading it to and i say let him live. i guess he didnt get a fair trial(not to sure on this everyone always says this). he denies still to this day that he didnt murder them. and he has been changing a lot of peoples lives. if they were to keep him alive he could still help kids get out of gangs and things like that i think he will help a lot more people alive then dead. this is my opinion may not be the same as others.

I think they should let him live . . hell he was nominated for a nobel peace prize. I mean come on it takes some one really special to be nominated you know . . . but with california system the good die and the bad are set free . . . thats just how I see it sometimes . ..

The problem is you have to cook these scum bags earlier.
You delay executing the death penalty 10, 15, 20 years and, ya, the inmate may no longer be the same person as he or she was when the crime was committed. That doesn't hide the fact that he committed horrible crimes years ealier by killing people and ruining the lives of their families.
Our system needs change. There should be absolutely no reason why someone is on death row more than 1, 2, 3, maybe 4 years MAX! We don't need to be supplying a convicted felon with 20+ years of free room and board + 3 meals a day. Give them their appeal opportunity, and then give them HIGH Voltage pronto!

We were actually talking about this subject in my criminal justice class today, Its a very interesting subject. I personally think that they should let him live without a doubt. He has alot to offer youth's with his past knowlege. He's better dead than alive...
I was listening to speakers on 106.1 Kmel's radio station yesterday and people supporting Stanley brought up some very interesting issues in trying to prove the possibility that he was unlawfully accused of the murders.
Either way if people are interested in the subject you should check out the movie Redemption with Jamie Foxx as he play's the role of Stanley Tookie Williams.

This is a subject that both sides will have valid points no matter how you look at it.
My opinion is to follow the current leagal system no matter how messed up it may seem. If the Terminator thinks he should live then that's on his shoulders. If he gives the guy the thumbs down and PG&E gets a nice kick back from the guy gettin fried then so be it. This is how things work even if they don't seem right, fair or just. Unless you are part of some sort of a group fighting for one side or the other all opinons on it are worth .02 maybe even less.
Now I'm not in the guys possition nor in the families that lost loved ones so my opinion could change on the whole thing in a heartbeat.

I read theres ALOT of evidence that points that he is the murderer.
If the families of the people who were murdered want him dead, then kill him.

One thing is for sure, Arnold is DREADING having to deal with this one! And for good reason. This is a HIGHLY controverial case.

Whatever he did in the past, he cannot change that. If he did or did not kill those people in the past. He's been convicted, and that's it. Why try and free him now? That should have been done a long time ago. No one knows if he is going to go back to his old ways or not. Just because he's written a few children's books? Who's lives has he changed, and who's live will he continue to change alive or dead?

I think hes dreading it more because if he lets him die, there will be soo much riotiing and killings after hes dead. I think thats completely stupid if they riot, they found the guy guilty of the murders, rioting isn't going to change that.

I agree, 20 years is too long to put someone to death. They should get 1 appeal and then thats it. Put them to death. 1 appeal takes 5 years so thats plenty of time to prove themselves innocent.
Scott Peterson will be in jail for the next 20 some years before we even consider putting him to death.

I love how all these "Save Tookie" people claim this convicted murderer is a role model for children. How he keeps them out of gangs. Bullshit! This guy helped create one of the largest, most violent gangs in the country that has imitators around the world. A gang that is responsible for countless murders, rapes, robberies, druggies, thefts, etc.... How many kids died because of something Tookie started? This son of a bitch is no role model to anyone.
Every motherfucker on death row is innocent. So they all say. If I was on death row, I'd write some childrens books too. I'd get a PHd, find Jesus, weave baskets, and do whatever I could to make myself look rehabilitated just to get off of death row as well.
With that said, do I think capitol punishment works? Not really, but if it is going to satisfy victims families then I am all for it.

If Arnold doesn't touch this one, and just lets the court's decision stand (like it should), people WILL blame him for "letting" Tookie die. I think there is a huge part of our society that expects Arnold to intervene which is absolutely rediculous. And this is where some of the rioting may stem from imho. People are aching to point the finger.
Anytime you point the finger at someone, you have to realize there are three fingers pointing back at you!

If they still used the electric chair I would recommend they set it to well done. He is a convicted cold blooded killer and his guilt has been upheld after many reviews of his case. If his current good deeds would bring back the people he killed then I would say let him live his life out in prison. As far as I know they are still very dead. If Arnold let's the system do it's job then just load up as many magazines as you have and see what comes along.

Basically in all its a lose lose situation . . and everyone has some excellent points on the matter but I think Arnold wont make a anything happen as long as in the public eye they see him attempting to do something I dont think it will end up that bad . . . but in tookies case it probally will be the end of him . . hey its history right ??

I mean come on, he is the leader of the Crips now once he gets out someone from the opposide gang may try to execute him themself lol

For the people who think he shoudn't die.
Just imagine if he killed your mother, father, sister, or brother. I know you would want him dead no matter what. Just see it in a different perspective.
So no matter what he did to sound rehabilitated, he did what he did. He has to follow his consequences.

There is so much that we dont know about this subject and everyone claims to be a expert. The only people who really know what happened are tookie and the victims, we sure as hell cant get anything outa the victims and no one is going to believe tookie. If you look at it from a neutral point of view, you can prob see that there could have been so much that could have gone wrong with the case. He is a highly controversial(??) and infamous man, you dont think the D.A. and investagators would do anything and everything to put him away for good, just look at the "oakland riders" for example they planted so much evidence that put away many people good or bad and there are many many more examples of corrupt or shady officials, and you know evidence isnt always 100% right. I could care less about what the families say about this, just because they want him dead doesnt mean that we should throw him into the fryer, they are angry and he is a easy target to focus the anger at. I cant say that he did or didnt commit those crimes, but all I know is that his time will soon be up. My .02

And about the whole gang banging thing, thats a L.A. thing, crips, bloods, damus etc. Out here in the bay its all just turf wars becuase of drugs and random ass shootings over stupid ass shit like where you live(Block wise), car jackings, theft, and because someone got they're ass beat. The whole time I have lived in the bay(20 years) I have never seen or heard of anyone get shot because of colors...well maybe in the early 90's. Just last night there was a double shooting in el cerrito a few blocks away from where community leaders met up to discuss violence and how to stop it.

YOu havent seen anyone get shot? You probably never "seen" them get shot but did hear people getting shot over colors.. Im always at Sacramento, last weekend a 13year old kid got shot JUST because he was wearing a blue hat in a "BLOOD" territory, you guys probably heard about it, goto sacbee.com , the kid was shot om Thanksgiving, some punks were driving by at night and seen a bunch of guys and kids standing chit-chatting when a car pulled up and opened fire at the group, a 13year old kid was shot.. Now of course the authorities would say "We dont know the motive of this" but everyone in that neighbourhood knew what happened, the kid was wearing the wrong color in the wrong hood..
::::
Now my boy got shot 5 times a month ago just because he was approached by some "bloods" at a mall and they asked him where is he from.. My boy said "29th street" and the guys opened fire at him with a .45 , they shot him 5 times because the guys were from "Oak Park Blood" gang, and my boy was from 29th street (29th street has alot of crips, mainly tongans) - Just an example shit really happens

He's convicted of killing 3 people. How many others has he killed? And how many lives has this scumbag ruined. You don't get to be the leader of a gang like that with out doing some very bad things for a very long time. Fry his ass and be done with it. I had a good friend of mine that lived in Sac that was a crypt. No matter how hard he tried to get out and get away from the gang they would always find away to suck him back in. My point is once your in, your pretty much in for life. Its almost in possible to get out of it. Arnold will do the right thing he wont step in and pardon him.

If he really wanted to show "KIDS" that crime doesn't pay, he would welcome death rather than try to fight it.
Fry the useless pile of shit!!!!

he is convicted of 3 murders and is responsible for countless gang related deaths. writing kids books does not make up for the lives he has ruined, time for him to be a man and accept the punishment for his actions in the past.

Actually 4. He killed 3 family members (Mother, father, Daughter) and a 7/11 store cerk. All 4 murders combined netted him 220 dollars that was split 3 ways. He killed just to kill.

Ah yes, the wonderful Tookie Williams. For anyone having doubts about frying him.
"Tookie Williams founded the Crips in 1971, eight years before he and three other men went on a murder-and-robbery spree that netted approximately $250 and left four people dead. The murders were notably gratuitous. Albert Owens – the clerk in Whittier, California – lay prostrate on the floor of a back room as Williams shot him twice in the back. Williams told one of the three men who went along on the job he killed Owens because he didn’t want any witnesses to identify him and “because he was white and he was killing all white people.” He then robbed the Brookhaven Motel, in the process murdering an elderly Chinese couple and their daughter (whom he referred to as “Buddhaheads”). Tookie killed all his victims with a 12-gauge shotgun, which he held inches from their quivering bodies before pulling the trigger to inflict maximum damage."

I dont know who talked about 106.1 but they are idiots if you ever listened to them. Second he has lived 20 years longer than his victims. They should have killed that mother f****er a long time ago. I dont want to pay $70,000 a year in taxes to keep this thing alive.

He should have died long ago.
I dont quite understand how some people can forget about the people he murdered just because he wrote a couple children books. You know what... I dont even care if he DIDNT kill those people in the first place! Im sorry.. make a fuckin example of him. Hes a founder of a gang that has taken the lives of THOUSANDS of people... anyone with that on their resume should fuckin fry anyways.

My .02
well said everyone acts like they know the true facts of the story.Police do some shady shit especially in L.A to try to lock you up or convict you.Fact is we will never know if he's guilty or not unless he outright says he killed them.Im not saying he's innocent but he definetely is a main target because he's the founder of the crips that alone gives them reason to lock him up.

Its official now, the gov. denied clemency.
Sacramento, 12:41 p.m. -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger rejected Stanley "Tookie" Williams' plea for clemency Monday, setting the stage for a midnight execution of the four-time murderer who became an anti-gang crusader from Death Row.
After mulling over the decision for weeks and meeting with prosecutors and Williams' lawyers last Thursday, Schwarzenegger said in a written statement that "clemency cases are always difficult and this one is no exception.
"After studying the evidence, searching the history, listening to the arguments and wrestling with the profound consequences, I could find no justification for granting clemency. The facts do not justify overturning the jury's verdict or the decisions of the courts in this case."
Barring any last minute, longshot legal appeal, Williams will be given a lethal injection at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals also denied a petition for a stay of execution.
Convicted in 1981 for four shotgun murders during two robberies, Williams was the co-founder of the Crips street gang. In the last decade, however, Williams has published eight children's books warning against gangs and violence and has attempted to broker truces between gangs from his San Quentin State Prison cell.
Williams' clemency bid has garnered worldwide attention, and the governor's office has reported a major uptick and phone calls and letters on the issue in recent weeks.

He dies at 12:01am tomorrow, riots in Los Angeles by noon that day. There's gonna be some shit going down. I feel bad for the law enforcement in that area. My aunt is a forensic scientist for the LAPD, she collects drugs and shell casings and tests them (kinda like CSI). She told me the Crips and Bloods have some serious firepower. Like 100+ 9mm casings from the same weapon or 200+ 7.62mm casings (probably AK 47). She told me once they got a crate of military spec AR 15's w/ M203 grenade launchers.

what I don't understand is if Tookie was so anti-gang violence, why can't he make a statement against such violence in retaliation of his death?
