So i know some of you workout, who here deadlifts? whats your max?

i pulled 315 off the ground today for 1 rep in the traditional way and then did 6 reps of 275 stiffleg deadlift.

I could rep 315 8times, not stifflegged. I only do stifflegged when I want to hit my hams and I only use 135 for higher reps.

As long as you didn't workout today thats fine, otherwise your depriving your body of need nutrients from your workout and your actually going backwards adding the empty carbs.

i started deadlifting a little while back.. i'm only up to 160 pluss whatever the bar weights.. but i do 12 reps for the first set. after that is as many as i can do before my little forearms get tired. [Razz]

i'm adding 5 pounds every week. i'm not trying to go crazy just yet.. i'm trying to get the form down..plus.. i know i can do more.. but my grip just won't hold.
not bad considering that i started with 90 pluss the bar.. [Big Grin]

Cobrajeep.. what can i do to improve my grip?

build your forearm muscles up. Start doing forearm curls and such. I had your problem a year or so ago, doing shrugs and stuff my forearms would give out way before my traps.

EDIT: The bar weights 45lbs.

EDIT AGAIN: The first 12 is that with the 205? do you do a warmup set first? I always warm up with 135 before i go heavy on all my lifts.

no i warm up with the bar and 30s on each side..
so.. 105 i guess.
I do 12 and then move on to 12 of 205.. by then my forearms are toast.. i tend to change my grip a couple times on the next two sets..

do you do one hand under hand and the other over hand? Your warm up set should be 15 reps, the 12,10,8,6
