I messaged a guy through e-bay telling him that his car was not a real cobra and this is the response I got. I never heard of this does anyone know if this is true or not?
"Here's the deal. In 1993, Ford made a mustang GT/Cobra. If you took the time to get in touch with Ford you'd learn that this car's VIN runs as either/or. The body style and engine are exactly the same in that year for a cobra and a GT. This is determined with the 5th, 6th, and 7th digits of the VIN number. In this case, its the P42 code. The thing that makes this car a cobra is the fact that it has emblems on the car identifying it as so. That is why there are both cobra emblems and GT ground effects. If they were made that year with different engines, that would ne one thing, but they weren't. There is NO difference between the two if they were both made that year. Therefore, it is what I say it is, a Mustang GT Cobra."

Nope.
He doesn't have the Cobra kit, intake, wheels, tails, etc.
He would also have the SVT certificate PROVING it's a cobra.
I'm gonna have to throw up

Here is my question to him...more of a comment. Hope he responds.
Hey man just because you got shafted when buying that (GT) mustang doesn't mean you should try and pon it off on some other poor fool. Just because carfax says GT/Cobra doesn't mean a damn thing. You think cars on carfax that say they have never been in an accident means that car has never been in one. LMAO!!! I wouldn't pay $2000 for your heavy, sloppy, ugly, fake, car,...by the way nice intake plate Hhahahahahahaha My car is more cobra than yours. I have a real 93 cobra intake on it. hahahaha WHAT A TOOL!

Actually, both are right. I'll find the webpages and junk about it later as I'm getting ready to go see SAW II.
If you go to Canada and found a Mustang GT there, it would be called a "Cobra". Ford released the fox Mustangs there and called them "Cobras" so they would sell.
So, everyone is right. No, it's not an SVT Cobra, but it very well could still be a Cobra.

Jdub, that's a very good point. You see GT/Cobra all over the place, in insurance, carfax, auto parts databases etc. That's because they are lumping the GT and the Cobra together in those databases because the cars are so similar. Maybe that's where the seller got confused. GT/Cobra doesn't mean they are the same car, it means GT _or_ Cobra.

Very interesting, I had never heard of this but there are reference to it. Here's a picture of the Canadian Cobra... It looks like they were made in 1980 and 1981.
And it looks like you can buy Canadian Cobra emblems from Year One at http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/headline.asp?hid=F20AF1769 [ October 28, 2005, 01:05 PM: Message edited by: BCINGUU ]

man, after mustangnate brought it up, i remembered reding about them.. but if they were only made in 80/81 and no other years... that seller was grossly mislead...
saw this on year one "Canadian Cobra hatch decal for 1987-1991 Canadian Mustang Cobra models, silver. " and "Canadian Cobra hatch decal for 1984-1986 Canadian Mustang Cobra models"
if someone has carfax, run the vin and see if it has the origin on the history... [ October 28, 2005, 01:10 PM: Message edited by: 94gt ]
