make sure you pack stamps, envelopes, paper, and pens. Dont bring any toys or magazines, they will see that and make fun of you when they do your inital bag search.

Also, I HIGHLY suggest that you cut your hair neatly, shave (if you have a beard or goatee) and wear plain clothing so you dont stand out for the time that you are a "rainbow" still.

In all reality its a big mind game, they break you down and they mold you and instill you with military teachings. Worry about doing your stuff 1st, before helping out others... and be a perfectionist at it too. [Wink]

and most of all, relax! [Wink]

[Whoo Whooooo!] to you. [patriot]
Good luck. I admire and respect anyone who decides to follow a law enforcement and/or military career.
Good luck.

Don't worry you'll have fun [Wink] it's only the coast guard:D In all reality just make sure you can run and are in decent shape and you should be fine. I don't know how they do it in the coast guard but anything that was on my person was confisgated in Marine boot. Good LUck [patriot]

Hey man, just remember everything is a game. Don't take anything personal. I have been in for 5 years now, and I have no complaints. Also do you have a garaunteed A school or are you going in as a Non-rate.

I sure as hell hope he got a garunteed slot in a career field, going open general is a big gamble, IMHO

It is the quickest way to advance. I've seen many Non rates stay in the same paygrade for a long time.

I hear you there, a larger career field definantly gives more slots for promotions. [patriot]

Boot camp shouldn't be too difficult. Just run a lot and do lots of sit ups. I barely took anything with me when I went to Marine bootcamp because my recruiter said they would take it all. I pretty much showed up with the clothes on my back, a clean haircut and clean shaven. Good luck and thanks for serving your country.

yeah, you really don't need to bring anything, except some underwear. everything else should be provided, if not they will let you run to the exchange to get some stuff real quick.
