Well after a busy weekend at a friends shop, we managed to install 3:73 gears, rebuilt the trac lock, installed subframe connectors, installed jba shorty headers and picked up a toasted(but complete) 96 explorer engine for $250. This is all on a 95 mustang gt convertible. My next question is, what cam and additional mods would you suggest that would work with the heads and intake(ca smog legal of course). The car is an automatic. I haven't decided on what type cai unit to put in it, but it does have the noise suppressor removed and a k&n filter in it at the present time. I also has a flowmaster exhaust on it.

Where did you find a ) 96 explorer engine for $250? You need to upgrade the valve springs and maybe lifters before getting a bigger cam. You will need a higher RPM stall converter if you get a healthy sized cam.
