Tonight my gf and I were walking down by the river. she still had her work clothes on, which consisted of a long skirt and a sweater-lookin thing. well we're standing there looking across the water and she freaks out and says something was crawling on her. it's dark, the only light out is from the moon. but i see this relatively big thing scurrying away from us. I use the starbucks cup she had to capture it, and apparently it died from a massive heart attack caused by a caffeine overdose. anyways, i took it home, rinsed off the cappucino and spread the legs out to try to find out wtf it was.

this was taken before I caught it


this was after i cleaned it up


the mouth kinda opened sideways, looked like 2 pinchers side by side


I did a quick google search on "spider," and found a list of common US spiders. lo and behold, there was the thing that was crawling up my gf's skirt, the same damn thing that you've seen troops in Afghanistan holding up that are as big as your head


of course this one isn't that big, but its still pretty damned big and creepy lookin

i have it sitting in a jar now, and the thing looks like it should be alive still cuz those big front antennae/legs (actually pedipalps) are stickin up in the air :sly:

There mean suckers to...I had one chase me around when I was over in Iraq..
when i steped on it, after I pulled my boot off of it..It gave me the finger and walked off.

apparently they aren't poisonous, but they do bite, and the bite sometimes gets infected

Those things were all over the place in Iraq. Those things can run fast too and scared the shit out of us some nights when we were sleeping. I hate spiders!

I went and looked at the jar and it wasn't where i had seen i last (it was turned around), i tap the glass and it started walking around!!

I caught some flies and put em in the jar with it, and it ate one of em

friend of mine is a medic in the army. he said they were sleeping in iraq in this building, when they saw one just chillin on the wall near their bunks. they threw a brick at it and it didnt die. it just kind of ran away.

thats one of the things i use to do when bored...find camle spiders and scorpions or lizerds and have thiem fight
